I've been lurking for a while and would like to join, but have a question. How do I get a save with a Mac. I seem to be having trouble.

If I can't... well... I'll still reall the posts.

Everytime I try to download, my Civ won't load it. I read somewhere that I have to change a <.php> to a <.sav> for Civ to recognize the file. Makes sense right?

I also am concerned about patches and the like. Lurking around here for a while and read y'alls problems. Will it be more trouble with my Mac?

I would post this on the save thread, but figure the static might be distracting from a new guy. But if I am still having trouble, I'll scream and stammer over there.

That was me posting that on changing to the .sav, actually. It works for windows machines, anyway. I will try to boot up my *ANCIENT* Mac and see if I can get the game to work over there and try it out. If your DL is not starting as a .sav, though, I would give odds that is the problem. I do not know why OPD's posts are not starting to DL as a .sav...but that seems to be a recurring problem...

Try changing the file to .sav, and let me know if that works. (Or does your mac version want it as another type of file?)

Don't go through the trouble (though I appreciate it) because I now have it under control. I tried again and saved the download as a <.sav> with no conversion problems. Though the file extension had to be in CAPS.

It’s just odd because a Mac doesn't worry about extension in the actual file name. Another glorious day for a Mac User in a Windows World and consider me an Apolytonian Citizen!

EDIT: Clarification in case someone has this problem.

After a long, harsh journey through the snowy mountains and cold waters of the north, Tattila the Hun finally reaches the shores of the new continent. Hopes of he's people ride with him, as he starts to seek for a place for the new colony. Only to find a sign welcoming him to: "A-py-A-polytonia?" He's dreams crushed, he curses the gods for his missfortune, then searches the closest INS office, where he signs application for citizenship. (Most of his people with him went to America.. tough luck for them) Hmm, are there any jobs available for a man, on who's trail only toadstools grow?

Added note, yes, I want to sign up, if that wasn't that obvious, and I also wan't a neat picture beside my name. And I want the save too! I want it all!

Custom Avatars are available after a bunch of posts (300?, 500?) anyway, you can choose from some assigned avatars by clicking on 'user control panel' then options. Towards the end of that is a change avatar button. You can scroll through and choose one.
