Alexnm, I wouldn't be jumping and down, Brazil is on my list of poor players... they just got through by luck. Argentina was a sad case, and your attitude is despicable.

I mean I wouldn't call playing against China a challange.

Giancarlo, you shouldn't be offended by people who are simply overjoyed by a victory .. I think there is a difference between teasing somebody who has been defeated, and going full out on a hate campaign .. nobody here hates Argentina .. we may hate the football team, English fans have good reason to .. Hand of God and all, but we are simply overjoyed to see a team who we considered arragant, knocked out.


If I remember correctly, the argentinian players themselves taunted the English players after there victory in 98 .. be glad, such childish antics were not seen from the English team.

Personally, I think Spain are going to win this world cup .. Brazil have such a simple group, and im not convinced by them .. however, they can turn it on when they want to, and the hardest opponent they have along the way will likely be England/Sweden

I disagree that England are not so good, I think they are either very very good, average or mediocur .. depending on which England team is playing..

I was talking about all of them. They aren't that good. They are very poor playing. ALL OF THEM. In every game. I mean it seems like they can't even score a real goal against Argentina (getting a penalty shot), and can't score one against Nigeria. They tied with Sweden.

That is what I call below average playing.

All I will say is they won't make it pass the next round.

Spain have a good chance, but you underestimate England at your own peril .. lets hope, if England get to a final with your team Spain, that your players do not make the same mistake as Argentina .. as they will get the same treatment.

I would never say a penalty is not a real goal .. if the Argentinian players didn't resort to fouls in the box, and played proper football, there would have been no foul .. but then, when your not able to out skill somebody .. hack them down .. thats the latino way isn't it ?? (im just teasing you .. )

Argentines get rough when it comes to playing, believe I know it because I have played with a few at school... and only did it once... because they play too rough.

I actually stayed up till about 4:20 AM to watch the end of this game, and I sincrely regret doing so. I was rooting for Argentina, but the way the played they deserved to lose. They dominated them in terms of time of possesion and had innumerable scoring opportunites. They had so many corner kicks and couldn't score off of any of them. It was really a pathetic scene to watch seeing the Argies fail to finish time and time again. They only scored when they got a free kick, nothing else the entire game.

Is supporting the stronger team a US convention? When I'm a neutral I almost always support the underdog, unless I really like the playing style of a certain team (ie. Czech Republic).

Nah, I'd say that the general preference is for the underdogs. Although the strong teams still turn out popular because the 30% of the people or so who do support stronger teams tend to pile on one team, and then desert en masse. See Dallas Cowboys for a good example. (The Yankees are weird. Evil, but their fans are all-weather generally, including the 80's when they sucked).

Anyway, glad that the European underdogs in the Group o' Death won. Now for a USA-South Korea advancement, and we're set.

I'm rooting for underdogs: USA and England. Yeah, yeah, England has a chance, but repeated poor showings put them in the underdog category.
