Boddy,

Why, of all people, did you feel sorry for Schmeichel?

Heh.

It sounded like he thought he was still our keeper. And that he felt sorry for his less than brilliant performance.

Well Thomas Sørensen is the man to feel sorry for.

Well if Brazil play against England like they did against Belgium, they are surely out on Friday. Their defence was miserable...

He was one of the pundits on the BBC coverage. He looked miserable at half time and after the match.

Yep. We haven't conceded more than 2 in a game since Euro 2000 and we've only conceded 2 goals in a game three times since Sven took over.

No. I said 'if they play like that against England'... None of the teams in the last 16 are 'crap'.
Everything, of course, depends on Beckham's haircut.

Game a bit hairy for Becks
By GRAHAM DIGGINES

ENGLAND skipper David Beckham has a bad hair day as his famous Mohican hairstyle gets flattened by rain in the big match.

Becks, 27, looked a sodden mess against Denmark in the downpour at the Niigata stadium.

Now the trendy superstar’s stylist is flying to the rescue from Britain.

Becks had to go to work with the hair gel himself at half time on Saturday and emerged perfectly coiffured for the second half.

But fan Tina Jacobs, 28 — at the match — said: “He didn’t look quite as cool as usual with his hair soaking wet and plastered to his head like a crash helmet.”

Award-winning Adee Phelan — a former Norfolk slaughterhouse worker — will jet out to Japan on Wednesday to work on Becks’ bonce.

Adee, 29, who cut and designed the latest look, said the captain’s wife had called him up.

He said: “Victoria rang me about cutting David’s hair. It seems as though he needs a bit of a trim.

“Flying to Japan will certainly be my furthest ‘home’ visit.”

Some feel-good statistics fell for Denmark in that game.

It was the first of our 13 World Cup games where we didn't manage to score.

And it was the first defeat in 18 consecutive games for this team.

They didn't actually play that badly, had most of the posession, played neat football and had some good chances to score. We were lucky to win 3-0. During the first half everything just went in.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

That was generally my impression too.

I wouldn't say that England was lucky to win though. On the day, England was clearly the better team.

Did you hear Stig Tøfting (Bolton) quit the national team? He'll fulfill his two-year contract with Bolton and then stop altogether.

Speaking of Ireland, I saw part of the Ireland-Spain match on tape delay yesterday in the US. The sound was off, but I could have sworn I saw R. Keane on as #10 for Ireland. I thought Roy Keane was sent home. Did I miss something here, or is there some other explanation? If it was Roy Keane, did he give Ireland a lift?

No, I just meant we were lucky to win by 3 goals.

He's 32 I think. He would have quit after Euro 2000, but coach Morten Olsen talked him into staying on. He's been very valuable in our midfield alongside Thomas Gravesen these past couple of years.

Oh well, each World Cup has its casualties I guess. Much worse four years ago when both of the Laudrups quit.

I always thought Robbie and Roy Keane were brothers, aren't they?

I heard that Tofting had an extremely unfortunate teenage life, and that Denmark was absolutely livid at the magazine who dared to tell the nation this..

It's a good story though now that he got to play football at national level.

Yes, I don't even know what the story is (nor do I want to), but it caused an outrage here that the weekly in question decided to run it. Also because Tøfting hadn't told his own children about what occured, and they had to learn from a sleazy magazine while their parents were on the other side of the World. Paparazzi journalism is alive and well, if anybody was in doubt about that.

The weekly's editor was fired over it, but that didn't help Tøfting and his family much.

Glad to see you all talking so favourably about a Bolton player. Tofting + Warhurst + Nolan in midfield == no prisoners, just casualties.

You a Bolton fan JohnIII?

Bo Hansen is from my hometown. I've cheered for him on many an occasion in the Danish 2nd division in the early/mid-nineties. One season he scored 28 I believe.

We knew back then we couldn't keep him though. He transfered to Brøndby for the ridiculous sum of £10,000 and went on to England a couple of years later.

He played half a dozen nationals, but didn't have much succes there.

But I always keep an eye on Bolton. Can't be bad.
