More then dead, the whole US economy will collaspe much worse then japans did. All of greenspans micromanaging isn't going to stop the inevitable. As the baby boomers start dieing off and retiring they will withdraw huge amounts of money from the equity markets. Do you think the fed is going to start to really clamp down on the liquidity of the of the $ to shore up the $?

Damn, that would have been my line.

GP: How about shutting down the 99 US state parliamentary bodies ?

I still don't think the US will do a full japan, but uncle Alan is working hard on it.

What I want to know is why Japan keeps throwing money at the dollar. Seems like a waste of money to me.

£2 coins are far more common than they were a few years ago.

Their design looks remarkably similar to a certain European currency.

Because the Danes think all other currencies are inferior to their mighty Krona. Backed by Tuborg, no less!

And besides, they already had two national referendums where the pro-Euroist lost badly.

really the epikoinoniaki politiki (emm like communicative science?) before the referendums was pretty appaling.

they presented them with the maastricht treaty itself.

noone understands it, not even those who wrote it

shoupld have stuck to the important points.

Well, Luxembourgian coins have the Archduke on one side, some of the Spanish Carlos, the French Marianne and the Dutch Albert II , so there won't be any problem to make coins with Elizabeth II / Charles ??. or William not the Conqueror.

First £2 coins were minted in the mid-eighties. They were minted extensively in the mid-late 90s, and on average around 40 million are issued each year, compared to an average of 35 million £1 coins a year.

Where do all the £2 coins go to then?

I take around £200 in £1 coins while on a checkout, but only one or two £2 coins.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Rate of release into the money supply is different to the actual money supply.

i.e 35 million £1 coins for the past 20 years leads to more than 40 million £2 coins for the past 6 years.
