Didn't want to be offensive. It was just a joke.
I'm really sure you'll come back to civ2. Or civ2 comes back to you. It's like a jo-jo.

At the original topic...

In my answer to the question that was backed up with the "doitnow! smiley", I refer to my column from 27th Oct 01, The Civilization II Era and the debate thread about the actual column, c192# THE CIVILIZATION II ERA.

I still do firmly back those words in the article and debate about the grand old man (Civ II). Yes, indeed!

My very personal opinion is that Civ II is one of the most captivating, inspiring, innovative and entertaining games I've ever played. Most likely the 1# game for me.

Why did I type with bold inspiring? Yes, because it's actually one of the very few games that have actually had an effect on my real world life, outside the world of civing.

So if anyone dares to stand up against my opinion; the one shall be brought down, and very swiftly!

Long live, Civ! The king of strategy gaming!

Civ2 was the first game I played when I got my first computer. It was in '96 or '97.

...and it still rocks. After I found out how much that crappy Civ3 sucks ass (I won't go deeper into that matter here), I started playing Civ2 again, always inventing ways to make it more fun.

There is a reason for PC Gamer magazine rating this game as #2 of all time. Because the idiots that write for that rag thought Half-Life was #1. It is simply the best game out there. For this Civ addict anyway....

My husband and boys have played Civ for years now and I never knew what the attraction was. Now I'm beginning to understand. It's an interesting game. I only wish I had more time to play it.

Civ2 is wonderful. After ditching Civ3 from my computer I've rediscovered the pleasures of Civ2 and scenarios - got hooked all over again. According to my calculations, I've been playing Civ2 since 1996 or so. Not bored of the game yet although I got bored of Civ3 within weeks of owning it (just like every other computer game).

Michael
