You forgot to mention that yeast extract is a waste product from making beer so people who like beer tend to like Vegemite as well.

Hmmmm....so you do have pork rinds.
I'll bet you like to eat bacon bits straight from the container too.
And pringles....mmmmm....pringles.
In Hydey's defense, my diet used to consist of a large sleeve of Pringles and a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. That was a meal for me.

Yeah we noticed

But Hydey has redeemed himself in so many ways in the last few days

a. He went to the dinner at quite a lot of personal inconvenience - drove 2000 kilometres and brought the charming Mrs Hydey along. Bravo!

b. He attacked Makeo. Get into him son!

c. He showed that the reason he turned up finbar's fine food is he eats a simple healthy diet. Nothing wrong with that.

d. Er,............it'll come to me............

10 hours...that's incredible. That's like me driving to San Francisco from here.
What a trooper.

But to go all that way just to sneer at Finbar running around in his apron...seems like a small price to pay.

Horse has pictures from last Saturday night. Unfortunately, most of them appear to have been rendered useless by a plague of "camera flash red-eye".

I've still got the pics from last year's bash in the camera. In fact, I finished the roll just the other day. I should get them developed and do some posting.

So , thats common knowledge.

At least i turned up at the dinner, you live down the road compared to how far I drove but you could not make the effort.

I don't think "effort" was the problem and finbar and I , and our better halves, were really sorry he and Mrs Deity couldn't make it.

The funny thing is, I almost changed that, thought of your pleasure in correction and left it as it stood.

Yeah yeah, the hoary old "I almost changed it but I thought I'd leave it there for you to delight in correcting" excuse. You think I came down in the last averse?

quote:

That's not a mixed metaphor. A mixed metaphor occurs when you combine two - or more - figurative expressions overlooking each expression's original context.

For example: "The mountain of paperwork winged its way to his door". A "mountain of paperwork" is a reasonable metaphor. As is something "winging its way" somewhere. Combined, it's nonsense. A mountain can't wing its way anywhere.

What about all those bods at Woomera and Port Augusta in front of him? What's more, they'd know a mixed metaphor if it bit them, too.
