I'd have preferred the test if the responses were on a 1-9 scale rather than a boolean scale. I kept feeling compelled to answer "yes" even when the answer was really "a little bit, I s'pose."

You get what you work for. Being a doctor takes ( in this country at least ) five years of med school and two more years working in a hospital before they are allowed to officially practice. For a lawyer it's something similar.

While you factor in the fact that I'd be bored in both ( and probably hopelessly depressed ) I'm willing to put up with a little poverty.

And if the worst comes to the worst I have good enough grades that, should writing not work for me, I can always bite the bullet and hop into pretty much any law faculty I want. MAWAHAHAHAH!
