Unfortunately my personal insistence that religion and ideology are one and the same led to atheism (which supposedly proscribes no beliefs at all) being way down at 77%. Secular Humanism 100%, though.

That isn't a 'bad' or 'evil' answer.
Just 'cause a religon doesn't require it's followers to do good deeds does not make it evil.

Hell, if I where to project my values on the answers in the same way, I'd consider "it is necessary" to be the 'evil' answer, if there was one. Since that would mean that the religon tries to control it's followers behaviour, or that you think everyone is required to do good.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Unsurprisingly, my top 3 were Secular Humanism, Unitarian Universalism, and Nontheism.

I got 40% Scientolgy. That's scary. Waaaay too high. Also too high were all the ones having to do with organizied religion.

Like I had 14% Jehovah's Witness. *Shudders*

I'd expect to correspond to the wackier religions by a bit. After all, I don't believe in eating babies, and I'm pretty sure that the Jehovah's Witnesses are at least somewhat opposed to the practice.

F*ck, how many times do I have to say this? Catholicism and the Eastern orthodoxies are part of the same communion. There are no major theological differences, just a nitpick here and there, and they each recognise each other's baptisms, marriages and so forth. A catholic can receive communion in an orthodox church.

The tensions between these faiths are mainly historical and political, not religious.

Okay, I tried to pick the answers I felt a charlatan/unscrupolous religious figure could easiest use to make people feel astonishingly bad about themselves.

Q1: Both God and Everything. Lots of room for interpretation.
Q2: Many Incarnations. Presenting yourself as the son of god makes things easier, no?
Q3: Everything is an illusion. Even your hunger.
Q4: Reincarnation. It's a toss-up between "proper hell" and "return as a cabbage", though.
Q5: Not Listening to the Voice of God. I am the voice of god.
Q6: No. It's your own fault.
Q7: Karma and Part of God's Design. It's all your fault that you suffer so much.
Q8: Toss-up, really, but I went for the first option.
Q9: Required all the way.
Q10: No Confession, No Forgiveness.
Q11: Necessary. With my definition of "good deeds".
Q12: Strict Ritual Adherence, Simple Living (Don't get uppity!)
Q13: No Abortions!
Q14: No Fags!
Q15: Kirche Kuche Kinder!
Q16: No Divorces!
Q17: No Social Betterment!
Q18: No Steenking Pacifism!
Q19: Come to me to be healed, god is punishing you.
Q20: Toss-up. I said yes, cause proscribing is quite nasty.

Er, this time it was Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Orthodox Judaism, Mahayata Buddhism. But you get the direction my answers went.

Okay, a little help here, people:

My top two were Unitarianism and Liberal Quaker, both of which I admire tremedously (though I do tend to think of the Unitarians as a little too feel-good for my tastes).

# 3 & 4, though, were New Age and Neo-Pagan, both of which I regard as pathetic jokes rather than religions.

And dead last was Roman Catholicism, the religion in which I was raised and with which I still identify strongly.

Where the hell did I go wrong?
