I must say the Chinese, for three reasons:
1. Militaristic and industrious. Die, neighbors!
2. They tend to start on GREAT LAND. I play huge + continents, 4 billion years, and man, the Chinese often seem to start with some of the best possible land, fertile and productive. Of course, sometimes they start on a piece of tundra or in the middle of a desert, but all Civs do that.
3. The RIDER!!! It comes at the time when I personally am ready to conquer 2-4 Civs (15-30 cities or so), and it's relatively unbeatable as a "knight" unit.
On the other hand, the Aztecs are the only Militaristic, Religious, and de-facto Expanionist Civ, so if you gamble big in the beginning of the game and can deal with no golden age later, they're definitely up there...
The Civilization which SEEMS the best but is always UTTERLY WORTHLESS are, of course, the Babylonians. You'd think Scientific and Religious would breeze an intelligent player to victory... so why are they ALWAYS BEHIND their rivals in terms of science and culture? Arrrgh...

I dunno, I like china alot, the GA is perfect for all those middle age wonders, the knight rules on the offensive, and musketmen are a ways off. Industrial means for better infastructure, as well as being able to utilize your new land, making for more wars.
I may try egpt, I originally thought religious was pretty crappy, however, by all the comments on it I think I will try it. Theoretically, cheaper temples(big bonus?) and one turn anarchy(out of 4 or 5?) didn't sound that great.

Gotta agree with you on China... perfect GA timing.
As for religious, though, don't knock it... at later points in the game, those 4-5 turns of anarchy can really mess you up, especially during wartime, and if you're anything like me, you're likely to be a huge democracy constantly at war...
Also, it's great to sacrifice your people to build temples cheaply in the game early on. It really gives you an edge. If the Egyptians didn't have such a lame UU, I'd be tempted to pick them as my favorite Civ.
Still, I'm with China. I use those riders in at least 2 major wars, and then one crossover war where I use them alongside cavalry, generally.

Excuse me, I don't want to start a "flame" here, but I consider your message very rude, Panag. You imply that I am not a "good" player, and I certainly am not as advanced a player as many here on Apolyton. But in my defense, I must say this:
In addition to their UUs, the Chinese and Ottomans have excellent traits. Even without their UUs, they are in the top escelon of civs. I think even "good" players would agree with that.
