Wow, only having been on Apolyton for a year has caused me to miss quite a bit. I know about Black Sunday... but what are Area 25 and the newscaster bannings (though I think that one might be self explanatory)?

Everything except Area 25 was, of course, unjustified.

It's been called both... the real action took place on saturday... but the Bannings were announced on Sunday in a thread I titled "Black Sunday".

The newscaster was a bunch of bannings of a rash of DLs with newscaster names started by History049, now known as Bob Dornan IIRC. I posted "what will this accomplish?" as Dan Rather with ten spaces tagged onto the end (you could end names in spaces in those days which made impersonating people possible which GS took advantage of for a bit) and got banned too (gottam IPs ). Was waaaaay back in winter '99, Febuary IIRC.

I got banned for a week once for posting a somewhat rude picture and for personal insults. Thankfully I haven´t had any PCR´s though

*sigh* I actually tried to slow down the thread near the end. And it wasn't entirely me. Each day I'd come home from school and my thread would have grown. And I think smammit was supposed to be spammit.

Sorry, you brought it up. It rang a bell, since at the time I was mostly a timid lurker and recalled seeing it.

I'm not sure, but some numbered thread was when Spink and YYYH got perma-banned (I think).

Then around April 1 there was some other number incident that resulted in some people being banned. It got tied in with other 'jokes' some of which turned out to be jokes, that one not.

The Area 'number's refer to hidden forums that the adventurous sometimes find and have some fun in. They get caught, they get banned. I believe.

I think that may be it, but someone more knowledgable than I will correct me, I'm sure.

Markos gave us a flag option, and I filled something in it.

Just face it, I got two very very very very unfair bans. Anyway, fortunately Markos admitted that and said that my next two bans wouldn't count. (I have to free bans, that means.)

never got any pcr. but that's probably because I don't care about spamming and postcounts anyway.

Someone PM me that posting the code might lead to a banning. That's why I want to add that I didn't post all it takes to 'hack' in another title. Thus it's not complete. In fact it's far from complete, since the hardest part is the part to PUT THE CODE THERE. Everyone can come up with HTML tags, but you need to place the HTML on the right place. I didn't post that. Thought I should make that clear before some mod bans me.

Ps. if anybody is interested in it...........

EDIT3: Markos, not only the flag-field has that loophole, ALL user control fields do have it. I could tell you how to fix it, if you were using a lotus domino forum, but since you aren't, deal with it since you can't fix it. That's the way internet forums work.

we should make a honorary list of most pathatic bans.

I nominate Boddington's ban because Ming banned him first for something he did not do, and after Ming found out he did not do it, he found a new reason and banned him for a picture that Ming never saw, but was told about by rah, while rah thought the picture wasn't bad enough to ban, and said that publicly. Oh well, it was laughable

I've never been banned as far as I know. The longest I've been away from Apolyton in the last couple of months is five days, so I might have been restricted for a day in the middle of that and never known about it. But that seems unlikely.
