Ahhh, the great and powerful Lung,he of tremendous wit and humor. This should be a treat.
We have returned from a refreshing repast in the great North. Never fear, the happenings of this world were never far from our thoughts. We thank Phil for his able leadership.
As for the statement 'Pray for peace, prepare for war', it is an old Incan proverb, steeped in the mists of time. The Incans are a peace-loving people who would never think of attacking anyone, but it is Our experience that other nations do not hold to this ideal of peace, and will attack others without provocation.
So We stay alert...and hope that the other nations of the world emulate a desire to let one another live in peace too.
A peace that does not impose one's beliefs (warped or otherwise) on others.

The "Australian Way" has been disturbed by a number of alarming factors recently. To business...
Starting on a positive note:
We welocme the greeks with open arms, to taste the pleasures of Darwin. We are delighted that you have made the unpleasant journey across those cursed swamps, to enjoy our hospitality. When you have concluded your business, you are free to continue EAST (under the great sea) of Darwin. Please note that the Australians are protective of their culture and land, and are not yet ready for tourists...
To the up-until-now esteemed hexagonian of the Incans:
Slaving and slavers will NOT be tolerated within Australian teritory. Especially not so close to an unwalled city. I do not know where you found your source of information, but this is even more reason to protect our borders from the plagues of toursim. I believe that my actions correcly convey the message of what happens to slavers in Australian territory...
To the as-yet-unclassified regent of the Welsh, the much spoken about Lung:
Either your civilisation is as yet not schooled in the art of reading comprehension, or you have openly defied my wishes. The offending diplomat was ordered to remain where he was, whereupon he would be (with all limbs intact) dispelled to your nearest city. You have seen fit to move him deeper into Australian teritory. As I recall, the consequenses of this action were that he would be hunted down like a dog... As I am not certain that you understood my last post, I hereby give you the oportunity to repent. Leave your diplomat where he is, and by the grace of the gods, his next meal will be in one of your cities. The consequences of non-compliance are not worth considering.

Turn 32 to Hextapul
After centuries of wondering when we would meet the nations of this world, suddenly a flurry of activity.
Breaker Morant , your gracious welcome to Darwin was appreciated, and our Diplomat will spend the night outside the city before establishing an Embassy. He will then travel east, as you have suggested.
Our friend, the Spanish Diplomat appears to be hot on his heels, and we bid him a good trip as our foot-soldier passes him by.
And while we are speaking to the great nation of Spain, we should note that another of our Diplomats has arrived at the gates of San Roque, so we now ask permission to establish an embassy with Spain, as you have already done with Greece.
And another hello to the Welsh knight, who is indeed a long way from home. We welcome you to Greece, but ask that you go no further west into Greek lands, as this is an area of sensitivity to our people, and a mounted military unit in these parts would not be appropriate.
On a less pleasant subject, we must report that a city with a happiness reading of 75 has gone into a full-scale riot. We have heard of this problem in a parallel universe, and hope that this plague will not invade our happy world. The loss of all production in a happy city is most annoying. And in caution, we had to take a worker off the fields, and set him to singing, just in case...

Returning from the Welsh Taverns Tour 2000 I see that the world is a lot uglier than when I left. Such is the way with the morning after However, it appears that my return is not a moment too soon.
With a heavy head I ask the mighty Breaker Morant to cease in his chase of Welsh blood. If the diplomat concerned is the one I believe it to be, then this can all be easily rectified.
As stated at turn 28,
"More Welsh Ambassadors have been despatched to seek out the source of this knowledge that rumour brings to our ears. The Spanish, Greek and French nations have been earmarked on the present tour, and we hope that all pleasantries will be on offer to create a positive start to our diplomatic discourse.
The reason that Lung the Nest-Stirrer could not restrain this Diplomat is because he is a personal envoy on a mission given directly by my hand, and so would not heed his beck and call.
We were unaware that his course would take him so close to the Australian capital, for we did not know that it was there as numerous requests for cartographic knowledge have been rejected. Had we have known then permission would have been requested.
Therefore, somewhat belatedly, I humbly request that my personal envoy to the other great nations of the world be allowed to continue on his way, without fear for his life, or upsetting the stability of our world.

Turn 33 ==> Stavros
Oh what it is to be hungover!
My most humble apologies Breaker Morant, the diplomat was in fact not the special envoy, and so I have ordered him to remain where he is until your troops arrive.
My special envoy continues on his path northwards to lands untold, and I must return to my bed with an aching head.

I understand Dometheous, underlings can sometimes be set upon by visions of grandeur, when the True leader's back is turned. Your diplomat has been returned to Wales..
On to the Incan issue... Hexagonian, I have no particular interest in a war on my northern border, and you CERTAINLY have no interest in a war there. Believe me...
I'm sure that we can come to some arrangement, to avoid furthur misunderstandings.
To the noble spaniards.... How far away are you from Darwin? I would also like to send a diplomat. If you could give me some directions, it would be much appreciated..

Turn 33 to Hextapul

The plague has come to this world in full force!
Three happy cities (two @ 76 and one @ 75) have rioted, with negative food production. This in spite of the fact that the panel at the bottom of the game says there are no riots. But the City status window does show them as rioting.
This is bad, as it is a real handicap in the game. Greece's ranking has sunk this turn after 2 turns of bug-induced riots.
I know this eventually ended in the Demos Semi Acc game, but only after damage was done.
=======================================
On a happier note, Greece is pleased to have established 2 Embasies this turn.
The reputation of the Australian people for being most hopspitable is indeed justified, Breaker Morant, and we thank you for your permission to continue to travel east (and away from Darwin) toward the Welsh homeland. Do we have the permission of the Welsh to come establish an Embassy, Demosthenes?
Having finally reached Spain, we find that it is as glorious as legend had indicated, and we thank Tomas de Torquemada for making our stay so pleasant. We apologize if we are blocking the road, but had hoped to travel on to France, and were not aware the road was in use until it was too late. We will be happy to yield the right of way next turn if needed!
Now if only this damn riot plague will cease!
Xenophon
