I disabled avatars in my profile anyway, to speed up the loading time a little bit as the new board was introduced. So I didn't notic anyway.

Light style for everyone? If it is such a style like the default style for guests it is a bad idea, because this buggy style makes Netscape 4.78 hang and I have to close Nestcape 4.78 by the three (in)famious keys.

By the way Markos is the chat now stable in Netscape 4.78, I can't remember the issure solved and you dropped the thread.

Cool! Seek and ye shall find... however, I am curious why there couldn't be a "guest view" or whatever so that they don't automatically see the avatars... just like the other stuff you've said you're cutting out for them...

Keep the avatars going bye-bye when heavy load of users... but would that help in cutting back on the guest strain?

Code ONE
Normal Bandwith: Not that many people surfing the forums, everyone get's their avatar.

Code TWO
Brownout: Getting close to max bandwith. Those who are King or higher and mods/admins keep their avatars.

Code THREE
Blackout: At or beyond max bandwith. Only mods/admins keep their avatars.

Code FOUR
Total Annihilation: All forums NOT dealing with Civ3/MOO3 are disabled. In fact you can't surf there.

Code ALL MUST DIE!
"Oh Frig it": Markos pulls the plug on the server for 48 hours (NOT counting weekends).

And while I'm also sucking up, I do agree that there shouldn't be penalties for being lower than king... just think of all the possible spamming and banning that might take place in a rush for everybody to get there...

Hey Markos, I didn't see this yet, but why not remove all of those pop-up and banner ads? I'm suuuuuuuuuure they are eating up bandwidth. Make some money by using product placement in your posts.

What about stripping signatures at peak moments? I'm sure they are eating at least as much bandwidth as the avatars.... after all, every regular has most avatars cached, while the sigs can't be cached.

Besides, I don't use a sig
