That's definitely gory. I always thought of nerve stapling as just putting smallish staple-like needles to every major pain centre and stimulating the aforementioned centres with electrical pulses, producing so ultimate pain that death feels like a picnic.

(Er... besides, how exactly would Tass' gas expand inside the body? It would somehow dissolve to the blood circulation and then be transported around the body until it heats enough to start ballooning? Blah, I'm getting too (pseudo)scientific here.)
