The one I wasn't too sure on was "Its easier to ...... than to lend a helping hand"

I was torn between "point the finger" and "sing praise". I've never heard the phrase they were alluding to.

I think the answer was point the finger. I got the idea that the phrase was about how lots of people ridicule instead of helping.

I thought so and its what I went with, but I was also thinking along the lines of people giving praise to a cause, but doing nothing for that cause.

Pekka, the nothing option was the first thing that came into my mind, but I realised it can't be it. The problem is this : IF you know nothing, then you actually know SOMETHING, which is the fact that you know you know nothing.

I don't think there is a right/wrong for it, since it's philosophy.

But the idea behind the sentence is that you never really know if you know the truth. And you can't begin to know everything. So "True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing." The people who insist they know everything obviously don't know everything.

I have known the idea of knowing nothing since I was a kid, even before they told about Socrates in school, I was lied to too often as a kid so I learned my lesson. And btw, I think the question is not about philosophy.

I think It was about logic (don't look at my sig plz). The tricky thing in my head was to prove the other options wrong, if you know the truth you really do know some true knowledge. So the truth fits better than others, but I did not manage to prove the others wrong. Then again using my logic the weather option would be almost as good too

Oh yeah, that too... maybe the right answer was nothing afterall. The car thing requires some heavy brains if they already don't have the knowlege of pythagoras in there.

That's why many people dislike IQ tests that ask what comes next in a series, which is the odd won out, etc... How you decide what comes next or why it is out of place is far more telling of how your mind works and your intelligence.

I started to look at 17,19,36,49,50 and tried to find a pattern to fit some of the 144,121,100,81,64 in it... I wondered how the hell they can make so hard question at the start... after five minutes I realised I was looking it the wrong way

Yes, the answer was "point the finger". I wonder why some native speakers don't know this, it seems to be a saying. I think it also refers to the "your own fault" attitude.
