Frankly, nye's post puzzled me. How do I "load a savegame in MP mode"? The only way to load a PBEM game for me seems to be through the regular Main Menu, Load Game. The guide specifically says PBEM games are to be loaded this way.

Did you do the 'Set location to Local' step?

We've been playing a PBEM amongst ourselves and someone else couldn't get NYE's instructions to work. Missing that location step was the problem.

Nope, sorry, did nothing like that. I have just tried to go to the MP setup screen to see, but I do not seem to get any Load button there - I can set the Location to Internet or Local, but it does not matter.

Can you tell me what EXACTLY is one supposed to do when loading a PBEM savegame? I am definitely not technically disabled, but let's assume I am - it may be something unbelievable stupid...

What I did was:

launched Civ3 PtW 1.14f
from the Main Menu, clicked "Load Game"
selected the savegame and loaded it
set up the password for our team
played the turn
saved the game
emailed the save to nye

This is what my printed guide told me to do. Or, what I supposed it was telling me...

Where exactly I was supposed to do things differently?

I did the same thing, except I sent to it to Flash at the end. You all sent it to NYE?? Apparently it is wrong - IF you do not have 1.14. (A bug in earlier versions.)

Ahhh... could it be that someone used 1.04f to play the turn? flash or CiverDan?

Eli, did you play the turn again on 1.14f?

Nope.

As I said, I have been always opening games from the main menu. I've been doing it in :
1) Games started and played with 1.04f.
2) Games started with 1.04f, where all players but me upgraded to 1.14f.
3) Games started with 1.14f where all players but me upgraded to 1.14f.
And now :
4) Games started with 1.14f where all players including myself had 1.14f.

Some of those games have AP, some dont, but I NEVER experienced this or any other problem.

Someone said that doing that manner for others PBEM games, the level of the game was reset to Chieftain.

And maybe the "Accelerated production effect" is another bug caused by this way to load a multiplayer game.

It seems to me that the "NYE method" rocks

Well, then, let's see what comes from Lux Invicta... I just hope they make it in time. I will be AFK this evening, from about 6pm to 11pm my time (which is GMT+2). If they send it while I am away, I will play the turn as soon as I come back to my machine, some time around midnight my time. Either way, nye should get the savegame from us today.

Yes - I caught that comment too. It was discussed in the #Apolyton chat last night. Someone also said that it was fixed in 1.14.

Launch PTW
Select Multiplayer
Set Location to Local.

Click on Host
Under Game Type, select Play By EMail
Under Game Mode, select Load Game
Load the current save
Click on Launch

[The following should only be done by the player for a team.]
Do your turn
Click on the End Turn Oval
Save the Game

Thanks, astrologix, this was exactly the kind of info I needed. However, I have just tried to load the save following your instruction step by step, but received exactly the same results: accelerated production on. I believe it is now pretty much safe to assume that the savegame got corrupted after Voxes sent it out and before we received it. Maybe CiverDan had 1.04f and used the plain non-NYE load procedure?

Actually, redoing it all again, I have noticed that after loading the savegame from the MP setup screen, it expressly states the AP is on (and will not let me change the setting).

you does change the games options (for a generic game !) when you load the saved game, it takes these options setted for the generic game !!

You can then verify (level, accelerated production, etc.) by loading by the "Load Game" from the Main Menu.

A friend of me has made these tests and he got the wrong settings.

Could someone test this effects again ?

I haven't been able to revert the game back to non-AP using this trick. But then, I am using 1.14f, so it may be there was abug that has been fixed in 1.14f.

However, I noticed one more problem we are having - the difficulty level of the savegame I received is REGENT. Eli, would you check the savegame you got from dejon, what level it is?

It seems to me that Luxes loaded the game in a way that let a bug screw both the AP and difficulty level settings.

Now I'm really confused. When I use the NYE method of loading, this is what I see after loading the Warmonger game.

I cannot change any of the setting, and they all go to "Custom"?
