Me too. I never place a city on a bonus grassland. I would also consider to have two cities benefit of all that good that is in the North East of Legopolis. If we place a single city too far from the capital, in the hope that we can squeeze in a bunch of production tiles, we might lose the effect of those productive tiles because of corruption.

I suggest to wait with the decision about the second+third city's placement, until we discover what is north-west from that nothern hill as well as what is south, south-east from the luxuries. We might change our mind and put the 3rd city on the desert, where the hut is, and moving the 2nd one tile south or south-east. We could put them also as Vondrack suggested. Let's wait and see.
Do we enter the hut?

I assume that after the worker finishes the mine, it'll move to road the grassland south-east from Legopolis, in the direction of the luxuries, is that right?

I tried a simulation building a road and a mine on one of those hills. I don't know the exact results (it was a few days ago) but I remember that working the grassland was better on short term (we are going to build a settler anyway, Legopolis will shrink back to 1, so long term discussions in regard to mining the hills are futile at this point).

If we plan to let Legopolis grow to 4 in the near future then it would be a good idea to build the road on the Southern tile first, and then move to the North-East.

Hmm, should we consider mining that grassland no shield for our size 3 terrain first instead of roading?

I noticed that our shields for our first settler might go 4/9/14/19/24/29. If we can get that mine completed before the settler is built, we would be able to complete the settler 1 turn earlier...

The question is can we mine that square before the settler is ready?

Hmm... the worker will take 3 turns to complete the current mine... I'll work this out in a table.

Current turnLegopolis 1 turn away from warrior
1 turn outLegopolis: 0 shields on Settler, warrior built
2 turns outLegopolis: 4 shields on Settler
3 turns outLegopolis: 9 shields on Settler; worker builds mine
4 turns outLegopolis: 14 shields on Settler; worker moves to grassland tile
5 turns outLegopolis: 19 shields on Settler, worker begins mining
6 turns outLegopolis: 24 shields on Settler, worker 2 turns till
7 turns outLegopolis: 29 shields on Settler, worker 1 turn till
8 turns outWorker completes mine, Legopolis completes settler

So, I'm afraid not.

Edit: Whoops, I made a mistake in my calculations. I tested to see if workers go before cities, and they DO, which means we CAN save a turn! Bravo Sharpe!
(outdated stuff in quotes)

Edit again: My, I'm dumb today. The worker IS going to be short one turn. False alarm, sorry.

Suffering from ads?

Well, Kloreep's table answers that question for us.

And, congrats on your custom avatar, Kloreep! I've still got about 300 to go... slowly but surely...

Thanks.

Demogames are great for post count; you can get it just for expressing an opinion. As one Civ3 Demogame president put it, "Worship the demogame, and it will repay you."

Which is exactly the same as with non-demogame posts! Just don't be shy to express your opinion in public...

Just kidding... many opinion-based non-DG posts may easily be considered waste of time. I guess I should know, since it's been so many times I spent an hour putting together a well formulated post just to find out I was talking to someone unable or unwilling to comprehend...
