Got spare money?

Finally I have something more or less creative to post in the Non-unit graphics thread! Here are some cities from my upcoming scenario, Blood & Steel. Hope you like them and someone else could use the cities as well.

hello :) Full PM-box? Change here!

hi, i am new in these forums. I am working on my scenario at the moment (thread available) but i am always on the look for cool graphics
But i really have to say that (and i understand that i am a minority) i dont really like very small-part city or terrain graphics, i prefer graphics of the size of those in the original microprose city.gif (although certainly not the ones microprose made)

I am using variations on the medieval city graphic for my own scenario, but i would really be gratefull to anyone who could help with some terrain graphs i am thinking of adding:

-bridge

-walls (i have made my own, but might change them, since they arent really that great, you can check them out in my thread)

-early 19th century dock (some image with water and small ships)

either way check the pic in my thread to see more or less what would be ok for use with the others graphs i made/picked

Cool thread

(ps: hello to the fellow greeks in the thread )

Ok, problem solved now. Great job :) Smiley , and I'm not saying that just because I want to use your stuff in a Crises of the New World Order update. On which topic, do you think you could help me with that by producing modern Asian and Indian variants? I guess I was inspired by the cities you and Curt made for Vendetta.

edit: also need Arabic cities for the mid-East.

Fixed the background colors on Art Deco tiles. And now, tiles #2, Modern.

the 2nd size tiles are based on Lower Sproul Plaza in Berkeley, while the 4th size tiles are based on Shinjuku district of Tokyo.

wow, you guys are good! I've been playing Civ2 for years, but just recently started trying to edit units, cities, etc. someone in the Civ2 General section suggested I check out the scenario section, and I'm glad I did. Looks like everyone has put a lot of effort into their work.

Thanks!

I've been playing around with editing units, cities, etc. for the past couple of days...everything was peachy until this...now my units and cities have a grey bowtie shaped thingy around them...it looks like the triangle shape from the units.gif file. Any idea what I did to cause this?

That's because on cities.gif one of the default background colors is the same RGB value as one of the other colors. I would suggest changing it to dark purple and filling in those gray areas like in units.gif. What gfx prog do you use?

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Yes, Smiley's right. Indices 16 (visible) and 255 (transparent mask) in the Civ2 Cities palette have identical RGB values (#878787). Programs like Paint Shop Pro can't differentiate between the two and swap 255 for 16, thus the grey becomes visible in the game. Use a colour replacer tool (if you've got one in your editor) to change the grey background to magenta (#FF00FF) – Civ2's standard transparent mask. Don't change it to purple – the transparent purple mask (#875387), normally index 255 in the Units palette - isn't found in the Cities palette.

When you've finished with the colour replacer, check your city icons for magenta "holes", in case there were any grey (#878787) areas that were meant to be visible. This last mistake is very common.

I simply use Edit Palette in paintshop pro to change it to the dark purple.

He's already pasted the grey sections into the file and therefore PSP's already swapped indices. Swapping grey (#878787) for purple (#875387) for index 255 via Edit Palette is certainly the best way when you're starting with a fresh file - that'll permanently remove this problem. In this case, I'd just select the offending area and use colour replacer.

Does anyone have any idea to whom these belong to? I have had these in a folder for a while now and I don't recall where they came from. They look vaguely like Stefan Hartel's style. Anyone know? And if you do, where can I get more like them?
