Indeed -- by common consensus. But note how that's actually an irregularity:

You aren't
He isn't
We aren't
They aren't

"I" is the only pronoun, we've decided, that can't contract its form of "to be" with "not." You can see how "amn't" -- which became "ain't" -- would actually make sense.

"Best Thing Since Sliced Bread" needs to be purged immediately- Sliced Bread has to be one of the most awful examples of our consumer culture yet. "Hey, how about we take bread, and take away all the things that are appealing about it? You know, the cruncky, good-tasting crust, the moist, tasty inside, all the nutrition... Let's process it, bleach it, turn the crust damp and disgusting and the inside dry and tasteless!" "By Jove, what a brilliant idea!"

The word I want purged from the English language is Britain, British and all other derivatives (excluding maybe a parochial use to describe the geographical location "British Isles"). It confuses too many Americans.

Your confusing Sliced bread and factory bread (which I agreed is crap) , I for one was glad when the bakery got a bread slicer, you can get it thin, medium, and thick.

We still get whole loafs too (cheaper) , but it's a pain in the ass when the cut of the loaf gets out of whack, (like after a few brews you try cuttin' it straight )

Ozz: The thing is, I buy whole loaves from the factory (or at least from large-size, supermarket-delivering bakers) and they're fine- when they're whole, crusty and unsliced. It's when they're sliced that they quickly lose all flavour.

I think Buck has a damn good point about sliced bread, it is actually quite awful and would take a nice loaf over that synthetic crap any day.

Anyway Paiktis, Golf Sale...well I have been out for a couple of hours so I haven't been able to reply (sometimes I think I am not allowed to leave the internet ), if you ever walk down Oxford Street in London you will see lots of these placards pointing you down random back alleys and all over Soho so it would seem, although I have never followed one. Has anyone actually been to that golf sale? Anyway, it is a bit of a cultural icon now, that sign...

Just thought of a few that really get me:

"Escaping certain death" -- If death is certain, you can't escape it.

"Changing the course of history" -- History is what has already happened. You can only change that if you have a time machine, and I don't know anyone that does.

Another irregularity in English:

The plural form of parenthesis is parentheses, not paranthesises.
