Agreed, Civ has ruled the gaming world for a decade and it will most certainly continue to do it for another decade. And even if Firaxis goes belly up and/or continues to release utter crap, there´s always the vast fanbase that makes good civ-related games.

hi ,

apolyton is immortal , even if this site where to close , and that would only happen when a nuclear holocaust hits us or if some aliens would take over earth , then the forums would still survive in countless archives around the world , ....

since more and more people find the enlightment of apolyton its unlikely that this site shall close down

even if for one reason or the other apolyton had to scale down , it shall always be there , ..... in the hearts and minds of us , the posters

Speaking of that... What is 'Poly going to cover in the future? Any specific focuses for files, etc... I mean the GalCiv and EU forums are all well and good, but they aren't the lifeblood of the forums... Hopefully the MOO3 will become big on apolyon as well as GalCiv, but what is being done to ensure that they are going to have a *new community rather than the same old civ-players? So that apolyton can grow and offset the users that it loses to attrition (ex: The Brain, UsuallyInsane, etc.)

well on the immediate future(next 6 months) we have three releases: rise of nations, moo3 and galciv.

from there we are in wait of firaxis' announcement on their next game(which hopefully wont be an FPS, so we'll cover it) and i'm pretty positive that ron will have at least one expansion pack(they need to do one in order to include the americans )

plus i'm willing to bet on a civ3 scenarios expansion pack

I get this feeling that in 2 years time, Dan would leave Apolyton to pursue other projects, leaving Markos on his own. Then about 6 months will pass with that then Markos will sell off Apolyton to either Spink or Uber and at which point it will be the end of the world and the Second Coming will happen.

That sounds good- although I can't really see apolyton becoming a major RoN site because apolyton really hasn't seem to have built up a large community; and other RON sites must ahve by now... as for GalCiv, they have their official forums- but, I can see apolyton becoming a major MOO nexus; but only if they concentrate on hosting MOO files once the game is released, and generally follow the same format they did for civ! hosting, etc.

but, I'm sure you know what to do, having done it well before Good luck

well we have currently one of the 2-3 main ron forums

of course it's not going to be easy as are there many established rts sites, but we're confident
