The Free Republic of Ladinot is a very large, economically powerful nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-working population of 76 million are either ruled by a small, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.
The medium-sized government concentrates mainly on Social Welfare, although Education and Healthcare are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 10%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Book Publishing and Pizza Delivery.
Scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, military funding has been stripped back, the alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit, and citizens are barcoded to keep track of their movements. Crime is totally unknown. Ladinot's national animal is the iberian lynx, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the lynx.

The Democratic States of El Mencey is a large, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its burgeoning ballena population. Its intelligent population of 29 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.
The enormous, corrupt, socially-minded government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 33%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Basket Weaving and Gambling.
Citizens select which government department gets their income tax dollars each year, it is illegal to make racist remarks in public, organ donation rates have hit a new low, and nudity is frowned upon. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. El Mencey's national animal is the ballena, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the dolores.

The Kingdom of Sagunto is a large, safe nation, notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, cynical population of 32 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

Perros on the Dinner Table?
The Issue
In a bid to provide a new revenue stream for Sagunto's Beef-Based Agriculture industry, it has been suggested that Perros could be added to the menu.
The Debate
"The fact is, the Perro population is out of control," says Beef-Based Agriculture spokesperson Pete O'Bannon. "We have to do something about them anyway, so why not market them as tasty snacks? We could have Perro kebabs, Perro pies, Perro-on-a-sticks--the possibilities are endless! Let's not pass up this golden opportunity to provide a feast, if you will, for our economy."

"I agree that something needs to be done about Perro over-population," says random passer-by Randy Jefferson, "but eating them? That's kind of gross. Let's just shoot the ones we have to and shovel their bodies into ditches like normal."
