--" Or is it more along the lines of "Oh no, they have stolen the dragonballs! Again!""

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Inu Yasha and Kagome (and friends) have to collect the Shikon no Tama shards, and all the other youkai (demons) want them because it increases their power. It's mostly a back and forth thing between them and one rather powerful one in particular.
It's as much about the relationships between the characters as the adventure, though. If you've seen Ranma you've probably got a fair idea of what Inu Yasha is like.

--"I think this falls under the less known category?"

It's fairly new, mostly. It was made by the team that made Excel Saga and Puni Puni Poemi, so I bet ADV licenses it.

--"I've been watching Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 on the Action Channel on weekends."

I haven't seen 2040 yet, just the original and Crash. If you've seen the original, let me know how 2040 compares.

--"That's the other thing, Wraith, it's not a credits course."

Ah. So it's more of a "do I have time to do this?" sort of thing. I'd go for it if I could, but I remember what my college course schedule was like.

Watching Lain and also drinking (heavily) wasn't the best decision I have ever made. ****, that movie is emotional.

Episode 2 down, moving onto 3 now...

EDIT:
After episode 2 I was almost crying. After episode 3, I was almost crying again. This time from laughter though. Emotional is the word of the day.
Episode 5 down...

Got spare money?

--"is Japanese people's little bit perverted?"

Sure, but so are pretty much everyone else. You'd be really scared if you knew about some of the live-action stuff coming out of Germany, for instance...

--"I was watching Lain for the first time ever, and I noticed that in class she was learning C!"

Yeah, there are plenty of computer references in Lain.

--"Episode 5 down..."

I do hope you watched four first

Still, watching Lain drunk would be almost as bad as watching Lain stoned.
Still, a very good show.

Indeed.
And yes, I am watching this series in order.

Which is a problem, as I have downloaded all except for episode 7. The major poblem is that episode 7 is the next one I have to see.
Still, for what I have seen, Lain (the entire series) will be my next purchase. Or perhaps a birthday present considering my current finances.

Quick bump for a couple bits of news.

First, AnimeNation, the online store, has entered the dubbing business. Their first title will be Omishi Magical Theater: Risky/Safety. It's a 24 episode (half-length episodes) series about a girl name Moe and the apprentice shinigami (think devil) named Risky who's supposed to collect her soul. Risky's task is complicated both by her own apprentice level and by her having to share a body with Safety, apprentice angel. Cute and humorous.

Secondly, Spirited Away did pretty well at the Annie's. It won all four of the awards it had been nominated for, including "Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Theatrical Feature". We'll know about the Oscar nominations soon.

I liked 2040 a lot better. In 2034, the characters weren't introduced very well. Indeed, it was sort of tough to make out who was who. This was one of the strengths of 2040. It was pretty engaging from the start. And had updated drawing to boot.

The only complaint I have is that the story started to drag in the middle-end. Too few ideas for too many episodes. But the few ideas that they had were pretty cool.

2040 is a solid 7 in my book. 2034 is a 5. Haven't seen Crash.

Btw, what is BitTorrent? Is it something like eDonkey?

BitTorrent:

http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/

The gist of it is that one central location hosts a .torrent file. When you start downloading this file, BitTorrent will kick in and allocate space for whatever it is you're downloading. As you download it, you also upload parts you've downloaded to other people currently downloading it. So basically, the more people there are that downlaod it, the faster it goes.

Some links that have .torrent files:

http://www.bstark.pp.se/bittorrent/
http://www.animesuki.com/ (seems to be down at the moment)

Also in other news, the first part of the Animatrix has been released:

Hmm. Crash wasn't as good as the original BGC, to me. I may have to try 2040, I'm sure someone in the club will have it. Still, I'll probably want to go through Trigun first.

--"And had updated drawing to boot."

Heh. I don't mind the old style of animation. Some shows work with it quite well. Although I still haven't heard anything else about Legend of the Galactic Heroes, unfortunately.

I rank Trigun a 9, so I think your priorities are correct. Trigun didn't drag in the later stages (at least for me). A lot of new ideas throughout.

I don't mind the old style of animation.

All of the women had hairdos with bangs! It was so 80s!

--"Very enjoyable, but still so many questions."

I won't promise this will help answer the questions, but check out Thought Experiments Lain.
Of course, part of the charm of the series is that it resists trying to give a pat, trite answer to the issues it raises.

--"I rank Trigun a 9, so I think your priorities are correct."

Yeah, I keep hearing really good things about Trigun, so I know I'll have to watch it eventually. The problem is that I heard really good things about Love Hina and want a few hours of my life back...

--"All of the women had hairdos with bangs! It was so 80s!"

You think that's bad, you should try some stuff like Armored Trooper: Votoms. Good story, but man that music took a while to get used to.

Oscar nominations are out.

Spriited Away is up for Best Animated Feature Film.

The competition is:

Ice Age
Lilo & Stitch
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
Treasure Planet

Well, not very stiff competition. I think Spirit is the only one that has a chance of beating it, and then only if Spirited Away is too weird for the judges.

BTW, what's the deal with this pantsless-Alexander-the-Great show they've got on Adult Swim? I won't get a chance to see it til this weekend, but I'm kinda doubtful as to whether it's even worth taping.

Out of the films nominated for best animated picture, lilo & stitch and spirited away are the only two worth watching.
That said, I've started my neon genesis evangelion class and I really like it.
We watched episodes 1-4 on sunday and we're going to meet for lunch sometime to discuss them.

--"Hmm, didn't see any of those. Were any worth watching?"

Couldn't say for sure. None of them looked interesting enough for me to watch in the theater. Maybe when they hit cable...

I still can't figure out why Treasure Planet is even on the list.

--"BTW, what's the deal with this pantsless-Alexander-the-Great show they've got on Adult Swim?"

I haven't got a clue. What's the title of this one?

--"I watched both Hellsing and RahXephon in the last seven days, and I'm still in mode."

I never did get into Hellsing. It looked good, but the story (what there was of it) didn't catch my attention. RahXephon isn't bad, but it's not one of my favorite titles. It's a good example of the post-Evangelion mecha genre, but I've never been able to get into those.

--"Next up is Cowboy Bepop and Noir"

Noir is kind of like Hellsing. Good atmosphere and high production values, but I never really got into the story. The pacing is all over the place (the first couple and last couple episodes are well paced, the rest pretty much could have been skipped), and the characters are pretty thin. Combat sequences are fairly pathetic, which isn't good for a show about assassins. The music is great, though. I bought the soundtrack after seeing a couple episodes. Hope you like the stereophonic watch theme, you'll hear it often.
Cowboy Bebop is one of what I consider A list titles. It's pretty much an extended character study with extremely high production values. Unfortunately it spawned a lot of not-as-good shows that couldn't get the non-linear method of storytelling down (like Hellsing and Noir).

--"That said, I've started my neon genesis evangelion class and I really like it."

You'll have to let us know about it ^_^

--"Is this from Japan I wonder??? most things about robots are…"

Not familiar with it, but I'll take a look later. Anime influence seems to be spreading, though. Like Molly Star Racer, which has apparently been picked up for production in France.

And speaking of Japanese robots...

"Reign: The Conqueror" or something to do with Reign and conquering. It's by the same guy who made "Aeon Flux," which goes some way to explaining everybody's state of pantslessness. They were advertising it last week, and aired the first show yesterday (they ran out of episodes for InuYasha).
