Very true indeed. This idea mainly came from reading Neutronium Alchemist by Peter F Hamilton, and he gets around many of the drawbacks by routing the "neural net" through a sentient supercomputer (the habitat), which can censor negative broadcasts. The AI was also brought up to be honorable.

Implemented properly, it has a lot of potential.

Some kind of neural interface thinginabobber that lets me scan books/movies/etc. in an instant, allowing me to read/view/whatever them at my leisure and also allowing me to process them at vastly increased speeds.

Also a drunk-chip -- flip it on, and you're anything from tipsy to smizzashed. Cheap, and no hangover. A must-have for anybody who's ever been knurd.

Oh yeah, and ocular implants. I hate contact lenses, and besides, it'd be cool to be able to see in infrared.
