I did resend the turn, I just sent it a third time. I'm posting it here too.

In the future, please, please, please PM or e-mail me. Problems get solved a lot quicker that way.

I got the 1100 BC turn resent.

I already have one of those on my hard drive, and I believe I sent it off

edit: actually that should work. I was able to save it before. Just had a problem opening it.

well this is weird. this is the same problem I had before.

I save it in the folder. But when I go to load the game, the file doesn't show up- even though I saved it successfuly.

I tried loading from the main menu and the multiplayer menu.

Dissident, maybe forward your turn to someone else (e.g. ADG or someone you trust), give him the password and instructions on how to complete the turn ?

I had similar problem in another PBEM game, i couldnt get one turn loaded no matter what i did - and the person whom i asked to play the turn for me had no problems. Maybe try this out ?

I'm sorry guys, I'm bailing.

I apologize because I know its a pain to find somebody else, but my life is unexpectadly a lot busier than it was 4 months ago and its something I'd rather be doing than spending my time trying to figure out patches and .sav files.

I've sent an email to jshelr (the player right before me) giving him my password so he can make my turn for me so the game can keep moving.

Again, I apologize, but the days are getting prettier and the game is getting cumbersome.

It doesnt matter if you play his turn, we are on different continents anyway, so you wont gain much useful info by seeing his game.

FS dont all bail out, i want to continue playing this one, i have been carfully planning the game so far and its very annoying if it stops now

OK I have more time now. I have two versions of civ3: ptw.

We didn't upgrade to the new patch in this game did we?

Let me try some things...

edit: I renamed the file, still no dice. The file just does not show up on the load game screen.

I also forwarded the game to Betahound, I'm asking if he can check to see if he can open the save.

If that doesn't work, we may have to backtrack a turn.

sorry for the delay.

I finally figured out a way to "see" the save.

For some reason I cannot locate the save in the saves folder. (maybe I have too many files- I should get around to deleting old PBEM saves)

But I put the save file into the My Documents folder (the one that comes with Windows98) and I was able to locate and load the game.

Weird. This is the only PBEM I have had that problem with. All my other games I can load normally.

P.S. I did send the turn to Betahound- and he could open the save file normally. It's weird that I cannot open the file when it is in the Save game folder. We'll see what happens next turn.

Really weird problem Dissident

Lets hope it wont happen again. PtW PBEM is full of surprises - you never know what bug strikes next.
