I don't know. I don't get French TV. But man, it's starting to really degrade the quality of reporting.

Especially when they get commentators on. I haven't seen one yet that ascribes French actions to any motivation other than greed or hatred for the US. It's usually nice to have at least two perspectives represented. At least they still bother to do that up here...

That's his name. And yes, he is an idiot. If his show is supposed to be a hal-hour (hour?) long commentary, then fine. But they should really balance it out at some point with an hour of liberal commentary. Never mind the guests he has on.

I get my news from internet(mostly cnn.com, foxnews.com, and washingtonpost.com). I haven't seen them directing insults against Europe, though they do report on the growing US-Europe rift.

Dobbs provides balance to CNN as a whole, as he is one of the few conservatives on that network.

Who are the liberals?

What single person has even said "we should wait on Iraq" or "let the inspectors have more time".

The thing is, it seems like the network might have liberals on the payroll, but they've been told to keep their mouth shut while the conservacranks have free reign.

Dobbs was off the other day on the "incompetent, whining French" etc.

His entire show is commentary, not journalistic in its tone. And I'm wondering who the equivalent on the left is. The only time you see a leftist open their mouth is on Crossfire...

The insults usually come when the story is done and they insert their two cents. The stories themselves are better (of course) but still always function on the assumption that the French are being intransigent, not the US.

I don't read washingtonpost.com or foxnews

What I do is look at CNN, the BBC and the CBC. Gives a nice spread of nations. If I wasn't lazy I'd also read a french online paper to get a real Euro view of things, but at least the BBC usually does a good job of sitting in the middle and fully detailing what both sides are saying.

Crossfire has two avowed leftists and two rightists. It's not a win for either side, as far as I can tell.

Dobbs' report is basically monologue. And take a listen to Cafferty in the morning. I don't even know where the other two hosts of that show stand, because he's the only one offering commentary as stilted as he is.

Counterspin and Crossfire are just debate shows. They don't count as "leftist" or "rightist".

CBC has no right-wing content at all really, it's all **** like David Suzuki's The Nature of Things which bends reality in their own special way to discuss how Kyoto will dramatically boost Canada's economy and the like. It's fantastic entertainment, but it's very biased.

I expect no less of a company funded by the federal government, though.

the news and networks is even more in the pockets of the corporations than the politcians

the fact that they are suppose to be the ballancing force, is one of the tihngs that unballances the system so sciverally towards the corporations (and rich)

What I was saying about Crossfire wasn't that it counted as commentary, but that it's the only place you'll see a leftist talk openly on CNN. But the two rightists I mention seem to have a commentary mandate, while there isn't anyone on the left who's allowed that much leash.
