Then they are probability force fields, Are these StormTroopers gonna die? Yes.

Therefore, no sense in the field being activated.

Enter the AD-FREE zone

Another thing, why isn't there some sort of small-arms laser that is rapid fire? If you had a laser with the cyclic rate(s) of some of today's assault rifles or machine guns, it'd be quite an effective infantry weapon.

That maybe the second death star, but I remember it.

Who would have thought...completely utilitarian safety devices...

Maybe force fields are activated by the Imperial insignias. "Admiral? Forcefield on! Naval Trooper? Give me break."

The lasers are actually quite a bit faster in Episode 2, than in 4,5 or 6.

Apparently technology is going backwards.

Edit: Apparently I can't spell apparently correctly.

Or a continuous-fire tightbeam laser with an output of a few thousand watts.

Congratulations. You now have an infinitely long sword that cuts through anything. Swish, swish you're dead.

Not really Tuberski, we're just seeing different kinds of lasers. If you notice, most of the "fast" lasers come from the robots and droids that have 2 or more lasers anyways. They alternate fire giving the illusion of a faster rate of fire. It's very obvious that the technology is better in the 4,5,6 episodes... But when that kind of technology has been around for a long time, I think that it's natural to hit a sort of wall in terms of the development of technology. If you disregard the past 300 years, human technology has actually moved at a slow pace. For tens of thousands of years, humans used wooden and stone weapons. Then bronze weapons for a few thousand years, then iron for another set of thousands. Only recently has human civilization enjoyed technology as we know it. And only European imperialism and war fueled the first steps of the modern technology revolution. Imperialism and war has fueled the most recent technological advances, also.

There had been peace in the Republic for thousands of years, no wonder they haven't advanced much. And with the Empire, in a few short decades, they went from smaller 1st generation "baby star-destroyers" like in the end of EP2, to the Death Star and the Executor (Super-Star Destroyer) seen in EP5-6.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

But Star Destroyers were badly designed for actual battle engagement, especially in terms of the docking bay and deployment of fighters. Placing the most vulnerable part of the ship, the bridge, in a conspicuous tower wasn't too swift, either. Given such design flaws, one might think the Empire was dumb enough to have a vulnerable exhaust port at the end of a long trench that could allow one to destroy an entire space station.

ISDs were also lacking in shield technology, considering Mon Calamari cruisers had back up shields and ISDs did not.

Yes, and their design flaws became evident with their defeats. Technology is a lot like evolution.
