Tired of ads?

There are web utilities (click on port scan) that can tell you if certain ports are blocked by your ISP. When PtW first came out there were a few people who found out they were screwed in this way.

Has anyone else, since installing the patch, had problems with paratroopers? During some battles, they disappear, except for their helmets. Also, sometimes the fighting animation doesn't run during battles.

Anyone else notice this?

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

I have one problem with the patch. After installing the patch and inserting the CD to play, the little CD arrow icon just keeps spinning, never opening the CD!! I uninstalled the patch with no change. Re-installed it and no change. Right now I can't open the PTW CD!!! I tried a different game CD (Unreal II) and had NO problems. Haven't resolved the problem yet, but my next step will be to uninstall all patches and entire game and re-install. That is if I can ever open the CD again!!!

Anyone else out there have this same problem??

Full PM-box? Change here!

Its a copy protection issue. Infogreed changed copy protection from CIV3 (safedisk) to PtW (secUrom) and lots of people have had this problem with PtW (at one time or another).

I think the problem is more common in CD-R and CD-RW drives. So if you have a CD-ROM re-install with that drive (I think thats what fixed it for me).

Continuous bombard works. At least with naval units adjacent to enemy ground units. I have modern naval unit Blitz enabled (with just 1 RoF), and they are no longer disabled from continous bombard -- even Destroyers.

The AI will move Artillery out of their cities to bombard naval units.

I also have the same problem with the copy protrection. I had to uninstall Civ PTW, then delete the directory in order to get the game working with older patches. I have tried the CD in both my HP cd-rw & my ACER DVD-Rom. Could it be IDE drivers?
& ANYWAY why is infogrames trying to loose its customers so badly? I have stopped buying any of their games after PTW since I can easely find a no-cd patch for any of their pirated games & since they don't reply to support emails.

True, I have not contacted Infogrames by phone.
But in my opinion it would not make sense to make a 30$ long distance call for a 40$ game that doesn't work that well in the first place... Right?... RIGHT??? Ok then. Now you can stop being a wise ass & shut up.

Should'nt we be able to use E-Mail to communicate nowa days?(hmmm... it seems that Infogrames Email server is running on the same engine as PTW...)

Any real suggestions?

Dida, Continous Bombard works. See my post middle of this page (page 4).
There was a problem with giving an ongoing command being inturrupted by there being an enemy unit adjacent.

("Auto" bombard, meaning "take all bombard units on this tile and bombard this other tile" has never existed except in the wish lists.)

Firaxis--Bugs and patches SP Suffering from ads?

quote:

This is disappointing to hear

Previously reported SP bugs are not being fixed.

Firaxis needs to have a viewable list of submitted bugs and current status: naturally I would prefer that bugs are verified and commitment to fix is made, but even if Firaxis rejects bug report, we should know upfront that they do not plan to fix reported bug. It is not good PR to always have to search thru the forum and readme to see if reported bugs have been addressed.

For example, of my 6 reported SP bugs, only 1 has been addressed.

Bug A--Slow F3 screen
Status-- addressed

Bug B-- F8 screen, data does not change when switch from score to culture.
Status-- not addressed

Bug C-- F8 screen, data does not change when switch from score to power.
Status-- not addressed

Bug D-- Unable to toggle grid coordinates in not in debug mode
Status-- not addressed

Bug E-- Y-axis scroll enabled and can't see some of workers activities and polar city names.
Status--not addressed

Bug F-- preference migration from old patch to new patch not available.
Status-- not addressed.

I don't know about you all but I am getting real tired of no response from Firaxis. {Unfortunately on those rare occurrances of a Firaxis chat, I am unable to participate}.

Plan B is looking more and more inviting.

Well, Planetfall, B, C, and D aren't bugs, but rather working as designed so I wouldn't expect them to ever be fixed.

As far as a public list of reported bugs, why would they want this? Really.

Warp,

If B and C aren't bugs, then at least the label over data should say score. It took me forever to realize that data was score numbers and
would not change when changed graph.

Granted D is an RFE. But they let us toggle grid. I had hoped they would let us also toggle coordinates. I really like coordinates but don't want to run in debug mode.

Ok maybe not a public list. But at least one member, you?, from the forum that could give regular players answers about their suggestions/bugs.
Just something to acknowledge time and effort we take to report items, and keep up enthusiasm for game. Even something as simple as:

[ ] not a bug, part of game design
[ ] not a bug, RFE may be considered
[ ] not a bug, RFE unlikely because of game impact
[ ] is a bug, minor impact, unlikely to be addressed
[ ] is a bug, major impact, likely to be addressed
[ ] received your suggestion, prefer not to comment publically

Anyhow, thanks for the feedback.

What botheres me the most, is the fact they didn't even think about fixing PBEM bugs... the mos timportant bug ever, was this bug:

preferences are saved in savegames, and not in the game... I want to open my turn, with MY preferences... I hate those damn circles the other players set under the units... (and lots of other annoying things... but this one is the worst)

How are we suppsed to make good sceanrios if there is no way to at least edit the diplomacy in editor.

How are we supposed to have good Hotseat exerience if it still has not some key features (mind you I still play it, but its still pretty much unfair).

But at least in chats we got some info, like that there will be new patch, or that they are still working on MP, or what next will be patched, etc...

This more looks like that they've given up from further patching (my personal view, maybe I'm wrong).
