I don't see a problem, I assumed he had already gained Advanced Flight from a goody hut on his starting island

Actually it is possible to build a town on the coast, have a goody hut on an island one tile offshore and pop the hut when the town's cultural border expands.

Actually I had the map making two turns before sir Ralph had the Lightning house. And I'll stop any science research to make a money and research them at lower cost later

I'm happy that my backward people amuse you. We are now having a nationwide (that's BOTH cities mind you) contest to garner ideas on what to do with this giant pile of useless rocks. Current contenders include:

Pilehenge: involves scribbling some pictographs and dribbling some blood from local butcher markets then telling all visitors it was an ancient calendar system we no longer remember how to operate, but are pretty sure it ran on sacrificed virgins......

Law Enforcement: involves telling naughty citizens that the huge heap o rocks is our ancient tribal punshment for those who spit on sidewalks, must chop up the hardest stone in the heap with a herring.
