Le Monde: Very intense air raids shook certain suburbs of Baghdad little after 7 standard times (5 hours in Paris), going until shaking the buildings of the center of the Iraqi capital so much they were violent one. In the night, the seat of the ministry for information was the target of shootings of cruise missiles, and its principal building was strongly damaged.

Friendly fire 'kills fifth UK soldier'

An A-10 Thunderbolt is reported to have fired on two armoured vehicles
A UK soldier is reported to have been killed and others injured in a "friendly fire" incident in southern Iraq.
The soldier would be the fifth member of the UK forces killed by coalition colleagues since the start of the war in Iraq.

Reports say he died after an American A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft targeted two armoured vehicles near Basra on Friday.

But the Ministry of Defence would only confirm that an incident was being investigated and that a soldier was missing, presumed dead.

A spokesman in London said the unit involved was a group of British light armoured vehicles belonging to D Squadron of the Blues and Royals Household Light Cavalry Regiment.

"One British soldier is missing believed dead, four others are injured," the spokesman said.

"There is a suggestion that this was a 'blue on blue' [friendly fire] incident but we are unable to confirm this before all the facts are known.

"The next of kin have been informed and the relatives of the injured are in the process of being informed."

A large explosion rocked downtown Kuwait City at 2 a.m. local time Saturday and some Kuwaitis believe the cruise missile that hit near a movie theater was an American Tomahawk that went astray, The New York Times reported.

The Times said some Kuwaiti officials read some English words on pieces of the missile wreckage, near a sea wall it apparently hit when coming in low over water. The missile strike, they said, was a mistake.

A Pentagon spokesman told United Press International that there was no information yet available about the missile strike...

AP:

MONTPELLIER, France - A British man named Eric Bush has taken a dramatic step to protest the U.S.-led war in Iraq — he's changed his name.
Bush, a 72-year-old retiree living in Jonquieres in southern France, says he was "ashamed" to bear the same name as President Bush. His surname was officially changed Friday to Buisson, the French word for bush.

Those five US servicemen are confirmed dead in today's car explosion in central Iraq.
http://www.centcom.mil/CENTCOMNews/...se=20030384.txt

And four-to-five British soldiers were not kidnapped near Basra. SkyTV preliminary reports claim that accident but now it is clear - fog of war.
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/...1085544,00.html

EDIT:
The number of US soldiers killed in car explosion is equal to 4, not 5.
http://www.centcom.mil/CENTCOMNews/...se=20030385.txt

BTW, let read sky.com:
http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/...1085555,00.html
"Two soldiers went to the front of the car, two to the rear. The driver beckoned to them and there was an explosion. All the soldiers were killed," said Brazier.

Two at the front + two at the rear + the driver = 5. Now you can learn how this number appeared.
