Have you tried asking around either the Stardock irc chat or the galciv.com forums to see if anyone can help? The tech community is pretty responsive and have helped me out of a jam or two.

Hello, i think i found a way to significantly up the scores of the members in the clan (im not really sure if it will work but it looks good in logic).. Im weary of realising this information into the public apolyton forum... how about a private forum for apolyton clan members only..

I too know some ways to increase score (but i just want to end my game now, so another time i think). And closed forum may be used for strategy discussion.

But just one thought - who protect this forum from enemy spies who just play 1-2 games and join Apolyton empire? I don't know is it possible to submit scores from same key to several nicknames?

I dont think we need to keep secrets. If the scoring is able to be manipulated then StarDoxk should fix it, sure i have fun insulting the other top few empires, but its not fair if we know some magic scoring increasing cheat :\

There's a difference between manipulating scores and simply using aggressive, worthwhile strategies to improve one's score. The first we should report to Brad for fixing; the second we really could use a private forum for.

(And yes, a nifty lil' icon would be nice- it might also draw more Civvers into our Apolyton Empire, and cement our lead.)

How is your total score calculated?

I noticed when you have one game submitted, your score is that of that game.

But when I submitted my second game, my total wasn't just the two added up, it was less.

They explain the formula somewhere: Sum of all games divided by square root of number of games. At least that's what I remember. It prevents (in theory) having huge scores for playing lots of easy games, without making people who just played one game top of the top if they had been lucky.
I also start to understand why big galaxies get bonuses: It's longer to play on a big map, so it should give more points than a small one, as you can finish 3 or 4 smaller maps when you play a single big map game. That is true for military/alliance victories, at least. I think it is still too rigged, as a small map is IMO harder.

Now game crushes to desktop then i hit 'done' button in the score screen. So i think another time.

To xen001:
I gained 7420 Mpts in my game (is this Metaverse score?) Military victory, January 2194. So i don't think you need a good patience to gain a good score.

I really think their accounting system is broken. I managed to win on crippling on a tiny galaxy and got twice less points than on normal on a normal map. Of course, I could play more tiny games than normal or huge map games in the same time, but that would be piece of cake on normal. Does someone know the respective effect of difficulty level and of galaxy size? I mean a formula, if any.

Sadly Elle that wont be your Metaverse score.

In my Last game i had 34,000 Mpts and when i submitted i gained about 1700 Actual Points on the Metaverse.

Damned if i know how they workd it out

Hm on that difficulty? I played on masochistic and thought that with all AI population i can gain a good score + January 2194 on Gigantic map. If this worth only 350 metaverse points then i'll better play WarCraft 3 or SMAX.

No idea Elle, i dont play Gal-Civ for the points, i have my RTS games for the competative side in me

Might be worth more..i really dont know who the weird scoring works.

It would be a shame to quit such a good game as Gal-Civ because you dont like the score it gives you..like the old saying goes, its not the destination or goal that is important, but how you got there if you had fun..who cares bout score.

I have fun then i have a good score . I too like RTS but IMHO there are only 2 options if you want competition - StarCraft:BroodWar and WarCraft 3. And i need something better then modem to play in these games. I tried, but it's almost impossible to play on modem. (If you want, we can discuss that in offtopic. Just throw a link)

Argh i need a score of 7420/(1-Sqrt(2))=17913 to not to lose a score because i can't send this score.

Well I joined the empire and submitted a score but for some reason it doesn't show me as a member. When I click on "My Empire" I go to the Apolyton page but my name doesn't show there. Also, when I click on my username to get the user info the popup doesn't show me as being a member of any empire. Anyone else have this problem?

Just submitted my first game & joined the empire. This game was my first one on the 'huge' map setting. It was also 'challenging' difficulty. Didn't crack the top 250, tho. Oh, well, I hope it's helping...

guys, what about rgibson - not empire related so far - who has just submitted a single game of 38499 - almost the double of Norin's 29 games!!! Just imagine if/when the guy decides to join an empire or create his own......

I think huge scores are possible if you are willing to play on Gigantic maps, etc. I'm running a scoring experiment on a Huge map, but I think it's going to be too boring to do more than once...

yeah, and now it seems the high scorer in question is banned......

on the other hand, like many other fans I just can't submit my recently finished game ( and my best so far ) - despite many tries, the Metaverse doesn't score it - the only thing I can think of ( and the only mod I have ) is the smuggling tech made ( and approved? ) by Brad "Frogboy". If by using only that additional file the game is considered cheat or corrupt, then we need some support from him . I've sent an e-mail with saved game, but for now I'm sorry I can't be of any help for the Apolyton Empire.....
