Yeah, contests are always big fun. There is world championships here every year, they give live feed to big screens so the audience can see the exciting happenings and surprisin turns of tactics.

I clearly remember one time the last two men in were just staring each other in the eyes, it was crazy! Then the other guy just passed out and it was over. I didn't witness it myself, but I remember seeing that in TV.. You should have seen the stare down, I was rolling on the floor.. laughing.
I mean, how tough can you look naked, sweating like a pig, red and little dizzy?

But it can be little dangerous too. If you get drunk and do sauna competiting all by yourself, it's very dangerous. It is very easy to pass out in sauna if you're drunk, you can't see it coming, you you jsut go out. And after few hours or so you're pretty much dead and in the morning you look like mummy. Happens here every once in a while, so if you want to compete and all that, be moderately sober and the most important rule, don't do it alone.

And 85 Celsius is maybe the most common temperature used. I think it's the most comfortable for most people. I don't like 100 myself. Between 85 and 90 is my choice.

A translation into English would get me banned for a while. As you are from Norway, you will understand the Swedish words:

Eissa puhua mulkku sussa, perkelä! =

- Prata inte med kuken i munnen, för Helvete!

So Pekka, you removed the translation into English in your edit? Good idea..

Anyway it's nice to be surrounded by "brothers" who can make evil jokes and still be friends. I might add you two guys to my buddy list (whatever that means).

Hey, Gangerolf, could you mail me the Che/Saddam image in a larger size? Not that I like Che or Saddam, but an image combining them is just awesome humour! Like combining an image of Hitler and Stalin!

Actually, Pekka was clever enough to write the critical parts in latin, so it was in clear text. He was also clever enough to remove it soon after he saw my Swedish text.

Well, your translation is right on the button. For some reason, I think you can really say it better in swedish than in english. Our bad words meanings are more simular anyway. So I choose to remove it, I didn't think about me getting banned that much. But now that I think of it, it's even better.

I did. By the way, do you work for Stora Enso? I do. I met a few guys from Finland who worked in US and then moved home. I can't remember the name of them all. Are you one of them?

Also few warning words if you're thinking about building sauna, or going to one.

It's nice to make sausages in the stove, wrapping them inside folio. But you have to have steady hands when you're getting them out. There is no good reason why you should make your fingers eatable too.

Then something that happens all the time, the floor may be a bit slippery, so be carefull. Don't fall on the stove butt first. It sounds funny, but it happens _all_ the time.

If you're thinking about building a sauna, first decide what kind of sauna you want. After that, do research how to build one you'd like. There are many errors you can make. It's accurate job actually, a bit science! I once saw a sauna with no place for the air to circle.. needless to say that not only it sucked, but it was dangerous. So talk to professionals before building it, get the proper information and then you can swing it by yourself.

My old apartment complex in San Diego had a sauna which I used quite often, however, now that I've moved up to Sacramento it is impossible to find an apartment which includes a decent gym much less a sauna. Not even the health clubs have them.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

My uncle tipped me about the perfect sauna. It was wood-powered, floating on the sea and had a hole in the middle to just dive in. As I live right on the shore of a big lake, I have had plans to get myself a sauna like that (see the image and just imagine a floating sauna with a balcony and a 5 HP engine in the middle of it!)

I saw a sauna like that in some lake somewhere... I don't know. It just seems like kind of a novelty. Plus I love the feeling you get when you have to positively run from the sauna to the shore - I know it must look funny to those watching!

Once I reach 95º I never go below that.

Ahh back.. jeesh they were drunk.

Gangerolf, It's not even myth or urban legend, it happens a lot. Usually to people who are drunk, but to sober ones too. When they decide to leave, the stove is usually right behind you when you're facing the door. If it's a small sauna, you're tired and relaxed, slippery floor.. it happens. I remember when I was in 2nd grade in school, my friends dad did that one. He even once showed his ass to us when we were talking about it to prove it. Nasty let me tell you that much

Olaf, now that's what I call sauna!
