The problem with PBEM, is that you have to do orders for one turn, every day or so, or it slows up a lot. I was thinking maybe multi-player IP, done at a set time each week, like turnchat, but smaller map. Although that has it's problems.

yep. they did that for the civ3 PTW demo game.

anyways, though i'd love to do that, we'd never have enough people. also, RftP is the first MP game i've ever played, so you'd have to explain how the other ways work, drug.

It will be hard enough to get enough people, without dragging SMAX into the equation too. Having said that, if each team elects a "democratic dictator" and a deputy then at least there'll always be someone to play the turns, as long as they have the power to act without asking the rest of the team Actually - this would be ideal for Yang in a RP situation. A non-democratic faction I can think of a few peöple thät wöüld be up for that.

The method used by the RP Team (or the one that was used until we became a Monarchy, anyway) was that you had one person who was the Despot, who made all the big decisions and had basically unlimited power, and you had everyone else, who carried out his orders and offered advice. If the people decided to get rid of him, someone would start a coup by posting a poll, and if more than half the team members voted to get rid of the despot, he'd be out. If not, the coup supproters would likely all be executed (that is, they'd have to get new characters and couldn't start new coups for another week). As it happened, though, we never needed to launch a coup.

I'm up for it. But what would that "neutral" mean? Just realpolitik without ideology? I'm generally not interested in partaking in any concrete faction, but then, I wouldn't like to be any machiavellan, either. So where shall I sign?
