Come on! Where are all the supposed pros when you need them?

Pekka's the closest thing we have to an expert on the US military, and his only experience is with the Nazi cheerleaders in the Finlandish Army...

In Canada, we use M2s and M3s.

M2s are 18.5kg, M3s 12.5kg: http://www.caf.itgo.8m.com/army_30.html

Once again, the doctrine behind this weapon is = never being caught w/o anti-tank capability. So you're supposed to have it with you wherever you go.

I was responding to Asher's suggestion that perhaps the rockets were all carried on the Humvee.

A weapon without ammunition is no good, unless you plan to club the tank to death.

The only part of Canada's military I find cool is the JTF2.

Unfortunately it's the part we know least about.

I also think that it's shameful that peacekeepers who have died in action on duty are not honoured as war heroes by the government.

If you're not in a war, how can you be honored as a war heroes?

Because when an organised group of people are shooting at you for belonging to a certain country's armed forces then you're at war with them. It might not be declared, it might not be a war between 2 sovereign countries, but it is a war, even if it lasts only an hour.

More peacekeepers have died from Canada than any other country, and more Canadian peacekeepers have died than have Canadian combat soldiers since Korea (by a factor of 10).

If they're in the military and die in combat then they are just as deserving of that title as any man who fell in WWII (or Afghanistan).

If we are going to accept that assumption, I would posit that we are going to have to change how they are armed and the ROE they opperate under.

No, because most of the time their battles are fought without them knowing ahead of time that they'll be at war.

They're deliberately crippled as to how much firepower they bring with them. That's one of the reasons I have so much respect for them.

Probably one per squad is issued. The USMC does things a bit different from that Army (quite a bit different), so I'm guessing. Other grunts in the squad will carry extra rounds for those, and for the M249 SAWs as well.

What you hump in the Marines or in the "heavy" army is a lot different than what you hump as airborne or as a light fighter. Having or not having vehicles close by to support you, and the type and duration of operation you're engaged in makes all the difference.

How big is basic group? 6, 8 men? I figure if it's 6 men, 2 men would have those with them, as it takes two to make the perfect ambush for tank.. both carrying bazookas, so that's my guess, two men in 6 men group (also if the first one misses, they can make corrections and take it out with the second, one is look out, one firing, after that change roles and do the same) and then being ready to kill all the guys possibly coming out of the tank. This is one basic model to take out tank, but there are many so I don't know what marines for example prefer to use. If possible, the rest of the group is taking some distance to the other two, so that if they fail to disable the tank, they won't be all getting it from the tank, and also to make better effect with their assault rifles to guys getting out of the tank, or possibly covering the tank. So my guess is two guys in group, they could form 'bazooka team' in it, secondary mission being taking care of tanks or armoured vehicles. But these are only guesses, 0% fact.
