It's being phased out. I wasn't taught the imperial system much at school, and we used the metric system for pretty much everything.

I was taught metric at school, but at that time evrything in shops was imperial, so I am more comfortable with Ilbs than Kg.

the only metric measurement i dont like is temperature. sure its great for science, but for the daily weather report, 10c doesnt seem like something tangible.

Its illegal to not sell stuff in metric measures. There is nothing stopping shopkeepers from also stating the equivalent imperial measures in their sales pitch.

don't get me wrong, i like u2, but when i saw bono with the american flag sewn on the inside of his jacket, i wanted to smack him silly.

This is funny and all, but unfortunately some of us have to live in the same country as these people.

My favourite is the airbrush fantasty style eagle w/ flag that LOTS of guys have out on the back window of their (yee haw) pickup trucks. Too bad really, as it obscures the ability to see their rifle rack.

The other thing people not from the states might not know, is the every single highway overpass in my area is littered with flags. Some as old as 9/12... all tattered and ugly. Not to mention USA! USA! signs on said bridges.

The metric system is fantastic... I too cannot fathom having to do imperial-style physics equations.

Everyone seems to talk in kms around here, I think 'mile' is pretty much getting phased out.

Lbs is still here, though. No one says their wait in kg, casually.

As for temperature: I like the celsius system. 0 is freezing, 100 is bowling: makes sense.
