Uh, those cities are in jungles NOW because theyve been abandoned for centuries and the jungle has crept back in. You cant build cities that size in a jungle, lol! If you clear cut an area of rain forest the size of Manhattan, abandon it, then fly over it again in 20 years you'll see no trace of the cleared zone whatsoever, it grows back incredibly fast if left unattended. As far as resources from jungles in the game, I think it should only be luxury items like furs and maybe rare types of wood. A large city wouldnt rely on bananas growing randomly in a jungle to feed its people. If anything, theyd chop down the forest and put a banana plantation there. Its not easy being politically correct and feeding very large numbers of people at the same time. Most advanced civilizations decide its more important to feed their people as efficiently as possible and nature can basically go stick it as far as theyre concerned.

Yeah that sounds reasonable, maybe something like that could be worked out. Chopping down a jungle tile with bananas replaces it with a plantation. Or apples, oranges, etc. The main reason people clear cut the rainforests in the real world is to create farmland.
