Yup. My sister (11 years old) also played it, and I wanted to be able to do everything she could do. She got the game in 93, and I began playing in early 94. I remember that I used blatantly overpowered units a lot... Chariots I think. They were like 6/2/3 and phalanx were 1/2/1. Most of my games consisted of delightful romps through the enemy territory.

While I don't think IQ tests tell us much, I still can't think of a better measure of intelligence, at least not one that involves an intricate knowledge about that person. Online IQ tests are very dodgy. However, if people want to find it out on the net, there is the Mensa Workout which will give you a good estimate of your score. However, because it has quite a range, it seems to be less accurate at the extremes. If you want to test if yours is really high or not, then have a look at Power IQ Tests. Ronald Hoeflin's tests are the hardest and most widely used I've seen, but incredibly hard.

In terms of IQ, I would say I would be very high, possibly even the highest, since I seem to be able to do them very well, but in real life terms, I would say I'm about average. As obiwan said, there are some very smart people here.

Well, 62% are in the top ten percent range and 78% in the top 25% range. Either some people put a little too much stock in themselves or this thread only attracts smart people.

255 I think the highest registered human is about 210 ish. The only online one I took (although actually sent off, but DLed it online) was the mega-test, when I was 16. However, the best IQ test I've seen for most people are SATs. Even being British, and never having been taught them, they seemed pretty fair to me. Although since quite few people seem to get the top of very near, it doesn't go high enough for some.

At 14 too You really are incredibly smart.

They aren't really. Most 'normal' ones break up about 160-170, in terms of accuracy, and most 'power' tests are subjective in part. The highest in the UK is a women who got 202 (or 0.00002 percentile IIRC)

I've taken an IQ test (one of those standard, reputable IQ tests) when I was 7 or so, and got ~165. I personally think that IQ is total crap, though...

I don't think I'm smarter than average Apolytoner. However I believe Apolynoters are smarter than average Joe. I think I'm a little bit smarter than 50% of western countries (because we can't measure poor countries in same scale), but not too much, just a little bit. But I think it makes me smart, that I realize I'm not the smartest here, so I know my position and play game from there.
So.. no I'm not that smart. But I'm a good person, so that's enough for me.

This forum only attracts smart people; it brings together people who are used to consistently scoring in the 99th percentile on standardized tests. For them to put themselves in the 90th percentile is difficult, much less the 75th. Even though they know that poly is a smart place, they've always looked upon the numbers in the 80s with disdain. Hence they cannot bring themselves to put themselves lower than they're used to.

It depends also how we measure smartness.. IQ test? My test are usualyl around 125-135.. I think average apolytoner scores what.. 135-140? That's pretty high though, so I don't consider myself stupid. And that's good, I enjoy your company very much, and I think it has a lot to do that you are smart and interesting.

Just that it's more fun to argue and talk with people who know the basic rules of making arguments and can really challenge your views, and every now and then change them! It's rewarding. Also it's better because people here have lots of basic information and advanced information about many different topics.. that's what I meant.

Notice that I did not post my real IQ, because I don't take that seriously, but I did post beating civ on emperor as a 5 year old, because I take that very seriously.
