I like the shape of Wyoming; it's like someone got real clever and creative with the drawing of them lines!

I also think anything with a panhandle is cool.

Also, California looks cool, because everything about California is sweet

Alaska has got to be the coolest shaped state.

I tend to like old country borders like pre-WW I Germany with Prussia stretching out to the northeast.

Saskatchewan looks silly. It's got the boring box-like look of some American states, but manages to bugger even that up by being unfeasibly long in the north-south direction. In general, annoying part about North America is the way the Canadian provinces and US states don't match. Someone should definitely change something.

Not really. For example, Argentines and many chileans see themselves as Europeans in exile, specially the argentines. Most Bolivians and Peruvians, plus a fair number of Ecuatorians are Indigenous people, the remnants of the Inca empire, and for many of them Spanish is a second language. Colombians and Venezuelans are a mix, and Paraguayians, well, remember the thread about them...

Latin America had two main liberators, Bolivar and San Marti, and for a while there were less states, but they all broke apart. In general, they have less reason to unite than europe, also given the rel;ative physical isolation of these states to one another.

Austalia kind of does look like a terrier taking a poop doesn't it? It's almost like Tasmania is the turd falling out.

Iran kind of looks like a legless Turkey or a gainst snail.

Britain looks alittle like a troll or something which is about eat Ireland.

Mongolia sort of resembles a potato with a few rootes growing on it.

Yeman has more then a passing resembablence to a smoke pipe.

The Congo looks like a male elephant with tusks.

Niger kind of looks like a flounder.

Greenland looks a little like a sharks tooth especially since it is all white.

The island of New Guinea look like a vulture.

Panama looks alittle bit like a snake since it is long and narrow with a couple of curves in it.

That's all I can think of right now but I'll try to come up with a few more later.

Well, depends who you want to make a "saint". Its not like San Martin was a saint either.

it was Jose Marti, what people want to call him besides that, well, whatever. Marti was an inspirational figure-got himself killed rahter quickly by the Spaniards.

Algeria is kind of interesting, jumping outward when you don't expect it to.

Australia to me looks more like some sort of giant lizard or pointy-nosed rodent having curled itself up, with Tasmania as the tail.

Kazakhstan looks kinda like a sea turtle, or, from the other direction, a fish.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Spain's somewhat to blame, indirectly...The colonial structure was rather loose and localized (in the New World itself, obviously everyone answered directly to Madrid...in theory), promoting the development of regional power groups/classes which grew to dislike each other. A more centralized colonial administration could have done wonders for stability and economic development...

IMHO, if Bolivar/San Martin/some of the other "liberators" were resurrected, they'd kill themselves at the sight of the squabbling mess South America has become....

PS: Israel/Palestine (whatever you want to call it, PC or un-PC) looks neat on the map, as well as pre-WW1 Germany and the original Roman Empire....
