Hillary would be a strong candidate. She's turned out to be much better than expected in the Senate. She can give a speech that will bring people to their feet. She is very focused and disciplined.

Don't know if she would win, but she does have some advantages.

sure she does. she's a democrat and a woman.

She has a lot of strong left wing democratic ideas. But she can shift to a more moderate stance to get republicans on board. I believe she actually voted for this war last fall, and has remained silent throughout this whole war. This will help her in 2008.

On the downside she is hated by many people. Including democrats. I'm not sure all the reasons why she is hated. She is manipulative and controlling. But so are many male politicians.

The thing I dislike her for is her sham marriage. A good woman would be at home servicing her husband, so he doesn't need to go out for fat interns. I do not believe she actually loves Bill Clinton. And then you have her shady deals the past 15 or so years. And the selling the secrets to China. Yes Bill Clinton was in the office, but I think she was running the show in many ways.

I do believe she has the best shot at installing a socialist regime in the United States. Assuming she can get a strong democratic congress and senate.

If 911 had never happened Bush would be toast. Too many people were annoyed about the fiasco of the last "election" and he's been a poor leader in domestic issues and an appalling diplomat besides. 911 gave him an issue. If you exclude that he's basically an incompetent oaf surrounded by extremist lunatics who have nothing in common with the majority of Americans. Only in the United States could a palaeoconservative like John Ashcroft be appointed to a senior government position.

I think Bush will probably win in 04. There doesn't seem to be a worthwhile Democratic candidate. Joe Lieberman is a joke and John Kerry doesn't seem to say anything. As for **** Gephardt, he looks too Carteresque to get elected (at least to me).

What the Bush victory will obscure is that there will be a very low voter turnout. Many Democractically inclined people just won't vote because it just looks like Bush has too much steam up to be stopped - and in politics perception is everything. At the moment the government has done a good job of instilling a primal fear in the general population and has positioned itself as the saviour.

The only things that could really smoke him are if the Iraq situation becomes ridiculous and it gets reported properly in the media. After all no one even thinks about Afghanistan now, even though that country has been reduced to a virtual state of nature.

The Democrats have nothing because they have basically become Republicans lite. Anyone seriously interested in progressive politics can't do anything with them, and they themselves are poisoned by campaign finance.

Like I said above, Bush jr. isn't a lock in. But I do believe he is in much better position than his father. A lot of people did think Bush sr. was weak for not going after Saddam in 1991. It would have been wrong to do so, but that still doesn't change the fact it made him look weak.

And yes I do agre 9/11 changed everything. Before I thought Bush had no chance. And with so much protests before Iraq I also thought bush had no chance in 04. But right now things are looking pretty good. And I do believe the general american public sees Bush jr. as a stronger president than Bush sr. as I do. But all of that is meaningless if the economy gets much worse.

And I do agree about John Ashcroft. Really the only appointess I really hated. Other than that I have no problems with the Bush administration.
