Yeah, about that many have passed through minimal training, but there's only money allocated to train them, not to pay them, so the AWOL/desertion rate is so high over 50% nobody knows how many would ever show up.

And we're still the backbone of every combat op there, with no end to that role in sight.

Well Bush is still sending money to Afghanistan however there is a problem with corruption. You can't just billions at the situation. The USSR tried that with Cuba. It went nowhere.

hey! at least this is better, than the US and GB do it all alone. that would be the alternative.

itīs an ambivalent thing. as you know I lived in an American sector in Berlin for a pretty long time. I regarded the presence of the US, the British and the French here in Germany as positive. most people in West Berin thought that way.
even the Soviet presence wasnīt all that negative for me. as a child I remember I was invited to a gulash by Russian soldiers who had their barracks near to one of my friends home.

Let us see how Poles always get a bad deal.

First, they join NATO, ie US sells them NATO as a good-place-to-be meaning in reality Poland will have to scrap most of its Russian weaponry and buy American weaponry. A new weapon market, pardon, democracy is established.

Secondly, they are entering EU but agreed to recieve far less money than they supposed to. They should have consulted the Greeks on this

Thirdly, US goes to Iraq to liberate oil and they get dragged in and end up with 8 million souls to care about.
