Yep. I think old farts, at least if they ever engage their brains, start realizing you have less to win and more to lose, regardless of the outcome.

I've gotten in a few, rarely in self-defense, but several times in defense of others. Especially nowadays, with who knows who's carrying what, and a little kid, I would tend to really evaluate the situation before deciding to do more than dial 911 on the cel phone.

You also have to be a bit more cautious about buying down here unless you know people, because there's been a more or less sporadic crackdown due to a rash of homicides, and cops here tend to get shot up a bit.

If you get caught down here, though, you can be one ****ed puppy if you can't pay the cop off, and that's harder to do than you think. They've even got to the point where they occasionally bust cops for taking bribes. Besides, if you've got a bust coming here, the cop will have what's in your wallet if he wants it, anyway.
