buster: You also seem to be on at the exact time (usually early in the morning GMT) when you get the turn. If the PUT post it at between 5 and 10 GMT as they usually do, I cannot normally pick it up until between 6 and 9 when I usually go on. This is not because we have not already made our decisions, but occasionally something comes up that was unexpected, sometimes needed the opinions of others to play, or a few hours is needed to get a poll to a respectable number of people to play. We endeavour to play each turn ASAP, and within 24 hours, but that is not always possible.

We appreciate your quick playing though

I was just teasing and polishing own gloria.

As a general note though I don't think there is anything wrong with investing the mover with a limited amount of authority to make decisions. Say you decided to move a rover south & south but on second leg there is fungus and so you go south-west instead. This kind of detail IMO does not require a poll.

Of course it can happen that team-mates need to be consulted and the send/receive times will fit better for some than others. This I think everyone understands.

All said this game is after all moving way faster than a Civ3 demo game I am also involved in.

Very true, and we do not poll for individual unit moves each turn. We are an efficient faction, and our style of government reflects our SE choices and faction ethos. However polls for techs and anything else that's major need to be at some stage, and if we suddenly find something (like a special area (uranium flats et al) or another faction, we may need some other opinions with our first actions).

I kinda assumed it was just a type post, but just felt like making the point.

But anyway, must stop spamming the thread. Sorry all

PUT Reload Message

Archaic has explained that following a podpop the game crashed on him while playing the turn.

Upon reloading, the podpop produced a less favorable result but thankfully no crash.
