Born rather unexpectedly while his Parents where in Taiwan for business, Haon has never really been able to identify with a "home" country, this allowed him to safely go on an radical journey through life that would not have been possible if he had any great love of the USA. Though his parents were American, he spent a very large percentage of his life in Japan, up until his graduation from High School. Though he showed great promise as a Historian and Professor, he soon went down the "bad road" due to a surge in anti-government literature. He became an underground anti-government writer and is rumored to have been supportive of Anarchist groups in that came about between tensions between the USA and the CSA (Christian States of America, Miriam's little group).Though he was not anti-American, he was always "controversial" and "heretical". He eventually entrenched himself in the Communist Ideology and Doctrine, and soon became a proud supporter of the many Neo-Communist organizations. He only got on board the Unity after a rather unusual chance encounter in Manila where he acquired Unity Boarding ticket off the black market. Seizing the opportunity to go and help build Communism on the new world, he immediately headed to the UN launch site.

Born into a research/medical background (father studied obscure human gene groups, mother helped to develop synthetic blood), Gnool showed great interest in politics from an early age, and first became politically active during the massive and wildly destructive anti-globalisation protests in 2076, where he got arrested for things that don't concern you. Studied Political Science and Modern History at university, and quickly joined the People's Democratic United Socialist Front for the Liberation of the Working Class and the Eternal Memory of the October Revolutions (PDUSFLWCEMOR), a political party whose aim was the establishment of a socialist state in Australia. After the PDUSFLWCEMOR's failed Brisbane Beer Hall Putsch, in which it attempted to take over the city of Brisbane and declare it an independent republic, the PDUSFLWCEMOR disbanded and Gnool moved to Japan, where he helped form the United People's Socialist Democratic Movement for the Acheivement of the People's Utopia, Marxist-Leninist (UPSDMAPUML). He won a seat in the national Japanese parliament, but was forced to step down and flee the country after he demanded Japan assist China in invading Taiwan. After arriving in Scotland, he joined the Scottish Socialist Party, quickly (after a few years) found himself leading the SSP, and renamed it to the Scottish People's Democratic Utopian Socialist Proleteriat Collective (SPDUSPC). After merging with the Revolutionary People's Great Communist Comradery of International Labour Solidarity(and his party therefore became SPDUSPCRPGCCILS), he organised the stealing of lots of guns and the handing out of these guns to all party members, and attempted to violently overthrow the "establishment". The timing was unfortunate, as the best of America's armed forces were in Scotland training the Scottish army in anti-terrorism techniques(yep the War on Terrorism was still dragging on), and the SPDUSPCRPGCCILS therefore got slaughtered. Gnool jumped on a plane and fled to Tibet, where he lived as a Buddhist monk for a decade or so waiting for the world to forget about him. After achieving enlightenment, he heard about the UNS Unity launch, and thought it would be wicked cool to go to another planet, so he caught a plane to the launch site and snuck on board the ship. After the tragic assassination of Captain Garland, he joined the Human Hive, and quickly found himself working for the Ministry of Information, writing and drawing funny little things for the Hive's Newpaper Pravda.
