--"They try to achieve cartoon quality by FPS (Fire per second)."

Yeah, you've seen the wrong ones for you, then. So if you tell us what kind of movies you actually do like we might be able to help you find some. You seem to have missed out entirely on the Miyazaki movies, for instance, which are pretty far from combat-heavy films.

Anime is just a medium. The stories told cover all the genres, including rather a lot that don't try to rely on massive firepower.

Contrary to Harry, if you're against action you aren't going to like Ninja Scroll either, most likely.

--"spriggan and memories next"

Spriggan is bad. It's like a low-budget Schwarzenegger film, only they throw in some extra crap to make sure it's worse.

Memories is okay. Magnetic Rose is good, Cannon Fodder is okay, and Stink Bomb is pretty lame.

--"was Lupen (or wahtever) french?"

Lupin (although there's been some interesting alternate spellings thanks to copyright and the like). Do you mean the character or something else? I'm not sure what nationality Lupin himself is supposed to be.
As far as the stories go, they were originally inspired by Maurice Leblanc's books, but I don't think they're really based off them, if you understand what I mean.

--"Why not try Ranma 1/2?"

It does start off pretty good, but like all of Rumiko Takahashi's works it goes on far longer than it should...

To each his own, I say. Just don't insult my taste and we're all good.

Going back to Jin-roh/Jinryo, my friends saw it in the theater and they said it dealt more with metaphysical stuff and philosophy than actual action. I pesonally like action in my anime cause I think that the anime genre puts out the best action sequences out there (barring martial arts, of course )

Dang! All this talk of anime has given me the urge to watch Cowboy Bebop again! Damn you all!

You don't like the "....In the next episode....It will be nothing but talking and maybe in 20 episodes we will actually have a fight....so tune in!"

Why? I thought everybody liked nothing but talking and jibber-jabber in their movies?

(if you guys miss the sarcasm, somethings wrong with you)

Definitely a coming of age anime, but with plenty of action.

"Coming of age"? = Whatīs the meaning of this? Something like when you are 18 perhaps?

--"and they said it dealt more with metaphysical stuff and philosophy than actual action."

Not really metaphysical so much as political intruige. Although there certainly is a nice dash of metaphysics. It isn't primarily an action movie, but the action sequences it does have are extremely well done. The sight of Fuse in full Protect Gear is not to be missed.

You should watch Read or Die. It's a good action series (only three episodes, but still). Some excellent scenes, like the hand-to-hand martial arts battle between two people who can phase through matter at will.

--"All this talk of anime has given me the urge to watch Cowboy Bebop again!"

That's a good one to rewatch.

--"Nadeshiko is better."

Than what? ^_^ I do like Nadeshiko (Nadesico if you're looking for it in the stores here), but it isn't as good as Bebop.

--""Coming of age"? = Whatīs the meaning of this?"

Growing up, but it's more about growing up emotionally/intellectually than physically.

--"Isnīt there an anime exclusive channel in there?"

The Anime Network, but it's in very limited areas at the moment. It should spread quickly, though. From what I heard at A-Kon it's been getting the highest ratings ever for a new cable channel, so the cable providers are quite open to carrying it.

--"I thought that Cartoon Network was starting to air more anime"

They carry a fair amount, but their airing schedules are a bit odd. They like to air long series, like Dragonball Z, but in chunks of 30 or 40 or so episodes. Then they rerun those for months, and eventually they put on a new block.

There's a couple other stations putting on anime, like Tech TV, as well.

--"Thatīs one of the weirdest series I ever saw, very good though"

That fits, yes ^_^ There's actually a fair number of weird but good series out there. Serial Experiments: Lain or Key The Metal Idol would be a good follow up.

Spriggan was pretty good. There's some holes in the plot but the action and animation more than make up for it.

--"Lain was going to be aired by Locomotion..."

You should give it a try if they ever do. It's been aired in the US by Tech TV and by one of the PBS stations.

--"Spriggan was pretty good."

No, not really ^_^ I've seen much better action and animation with less holes in the plot (like Read or Die).

--"Btw, is pokemon over in japan?"

Nope. According to NewType they're running Pocket Monsters Advance Generation now.
Anime franchises tend to keep going as long as they're making money. There are a couple that have been going continuously for decades.

Edit:

Just found this scan of some of Weta's concept art for the live-action Evangelion movie:

This Kikaider show they're showing now on Cartoon Network seemed like it might be interesting, but most of the animation is absolutely atrocious. I'll give it another coupla days, but at first glance it's far too hackneyed.
