quote: Señor de la Civ, in the trail against Godking the Inquisition judged that he was guilty and the punishment of exile was inflicted upon him. Why did you not respect this decision of the Inquisition? |
I knew it was wrong. Despite the obvious evidence that he was not just a heretic but also a witch, the Inquisition half bought into his feigned insanity even though they agreed it was feigned and even if he wre insane it would have been a sign of possession by the devil. I live by the Bible, so I had no choice but to kill him. I could not stand to let Spain's righteousness be tarnished by the cowardice of Cardinal Calamari.
quote: Señor de la Civ, why did you cut GodKings head off? Why not a hand as you said in an earlier testification? Why haven't you kicked him to unconciousness? |
I wanted him to realize in the end that all his connivings had failed. Unconsciousness would have possibly let him retain his smug confidence on the Devil. I had to make him see his evil and realize that the righteousness of God would not allow it.
quote: Why, Señor de la Civ, did you lie although you knew you were violating an oath to God? |
I do not know. Perhaps, once i denied killing him the first time before I learned of all the evidence, I had been trapped in the web of Satan and his deceptiveness, from which I have only now escaped.
quote: Why, Señor de la Civ, have you confessed now and not in an earlier stage? Has it to do with the death of Señor Torquemada? |
I finally realized that lying would only help the Devil. I saw that exposing the true evil of GodKing and the faults of this Inquisition would be the only way to truly and decisively defeat him.
quote: And finally, what punishment do you think that fits to the crimes committed by you? |
I cannot say. I have entirely repented for lying, so it is my opinion that no religious court can punish me for that, though a secular court may.

But Cardibal Calamari judged that he would be exiled, not without reason:
quote: The final judgement inflicted on the heretic GodKing by Cardinal Calamari in the trial against the heretic GodKing
You shall be exiled from the borders of Spain and from all those people whom you might poison with your dreadful heresy. You shall be noted by the mark of Cain that you bear on your forehead, and any man in Spain who gives harbor to you shall be fined. You shall never again travel through this land, nor shall you speak to any Spaniard again, unless outside these lands. You shall be made to dwell in the lonely regions of this world, where there is nothing but nature, and God. May you find peace there, my cousin, where God walks alone in his garden, under his sun and his moon, in the day or in twilight. May you walk with him there, fellow man, and find solace in His company. May He forgive you, brother, that you will see the truth and walk with Him eternally. May you come to know your Father as a son in the long hours of loneliness ahead. But know that you are never alone. There will be God at your side, urging you to come home, like the prodigal's son, so that the fatted calf may be slain and the feast be prepared, so that you may come back to the Father and be with Him always, so that you, who were blind, will see again. That you, who were dead, will be alive again.
Cardinal Calamari
|
The reason why Cardinal Calamari decided to inflict the punisment of exile on the heretic GodKing, was because he wanted to give GodKing a chance to repent from his sins and to let the almighty God himself decide to do with this man.
You have taken away that chance for GodKing to repent. You played a judge yourself while you were not allowed to do so.
What would you say if someone took away your chance to repent from your sins?
quote: I wanted him to realize in the end that all his connivings had failed. Unconsciousness would have possibly let him retain his smug confidence on the Devil. I had to make him see his evil and realize that the righteousness of God would not allow it. |
GodKing sinned heavily, but that did not give you the right to kill him. That right was given to God and you are not allowed to decide for God. He can do that very well by Himself alone.
quote: I do not know. Perhaps, once i denied killing him the first time before I learned of all the evidence, I had been trapped in the web of Satan and his deceptiveness, from which I have only now escaped. |
Señor de la Civ. It was your fault, not Satan's. If you would be a true christian, if you would trust God the Father and Jesus Christ, His Son, such would not have happened. Promise that you will never loose faith in God and Christ, not only to me but Him too. Pray that you will never loose faith again.
quote: I finally realized that lying would only help the Devil. |
That is true.
quote: I cannot say. I have entirely repented for lying, so it is my opinion that no religious court can punish me for that, though a secular court may. |
You are now not anymore standing before a religious court, nor before a secular court, I, the Pope am your judge now. I want to see that you have thought about your sins. A good way to show that is to tell me what punishment you think you deserve.

Give the man mercy. We know that he has not murdered GodKing's soul, because his ghost still wanders the courthouse...all have seen the apparitions of his body saying "Neck...pain..." etc. Also, he has applauded our northern neighbors' play about him. Thus, his soul is not dead and it still lives on our own Earth very much. I believe this is a simple anomaly provided by God in an attempt to help Señor de la Civ's misguided ways, for if he truly was murdered, de la Civ would have no chance in our Courts.
GodKing was only murdered in the body, not in the spirit; he still has chance to amend his ways even if only in mind and not in deed. I ask that you show mercy on Señor de la Civ and excuse his rash actions if he is truly repentant.
(If he isn't truly repentant, burn him at the stake, I haven't seen a stake-burning in a long while.)

I have just sent my judging on this case to The Holy Pope. I have been quiet, though I´ve heard every word here pronounced, and I think the case is over. It was very sad, as we have seen not only the lost of an herectic that could have repented his sins, but also that of a great Head Inquisitor . Although his death has been an act of defiance, he served The Church as well as Spain exemplarly, and he shall be greatly grieved. Besides, one of The Holy Paladins of The Church has lost his mind, possibly out of satanic possesion.
This just shows how the Holy Inquisition is needed, and at full strenght , to prevent humans, who are born free of sin and greed from becoming sons of Satan , and thus demonic tools.
I believe the judgement is over, let us wait the final judging of The Pope.
Pablo Winterius,
Cardinal, missionary Bishop and Holy Paladin of The Church

In that case, I think an appropriate punishment would be taking away my membership in the Order of Paladins of the Holy Church.
As for the sentencing of the witch, I do not see how mercy served God. He clearly had shown no signs of repentance in any form, and even feigned insanity to avoid it. Sending him off to the island would only allow him to meet with Satan again to find a way to get off the island, or if Satan found his servant to be of no further use, kill himself and doom himself to complete damnation. By killing him, I spared him of suffering in Hell for further sins he would have committed, whether they be suicide of further evils when he would have returned to Espana.

Senor GodKing, I must tell you, was not a witch.
The witch is strictly a female follower of the Devil. What you want, de la Civ, is to say that he was a warloc.
Senor Mitchell,
Senor GodKing's soul was murdered in the sense that he can never find everlasting life in God. His spirit was parted from the body, but now wanders in eternal exile because, on the point of redemption, he was slain and now must travel the world endlessly on the back of the wind, seeing the miseries of others and lamenting on how he can do nothing to assist them in their plight.
He is a ghost, he walks in eternity, neither here nor there, exiled from God, from earth, from rest. He is condemned to wander all things in heaven and earth until the end of time itself.
Cardinal Calamari

End of time. END OF TIME, no I don't think so. I have the option of going up or down (pleasant but borring up, exciting but potentially painful down), but for now I choose to stay here. Besides, I am still working on this whole posesion thing, and I must say that that cute 18year old girl I encountered last night... well, lets just say technically she is still a virgen...

Oh, and by the way, it was no human that severed my head, I will let you all know that. De La Civ is protecting someone, who in truth needs no protection.

Señor de la Civ.
I have heard your answers to my questions and your confession.
You have murdered the heretic GodKing, who was inflicted to exile. You taken away from him the chance to show repentance to the almighty God. You have violated the judgement of the Inquisition while you were carrying out a job for the Inquisition. You have revenged the death of your brother on the heretic GodKing and you have violated an oath sworn to God.
For this, Señor de la Civ, I should punish you heavily. Perhaps I should punish you with death. But I won't do so, even if the masses outside would demand that you be burned at a stake, I wont do so. Because as well as The inquisition had mercy on the heretic GodKing, I will have mercy on you. You have sinned, but the graceful God is always willing to grant you a second chance. So shall I do. To much blood has been shed since the killing of the heretic GodKing.
Your punishment contains dismissal from the Holy order of Paladins. You are condemned to preaching the pagans in this world under the lead of Cardinal Winterius, our Missionary Bishop, by that way you can atone your sins.
Because of this punishment the seal of the Holy order of Paladins will be taken from you as well as your paladin sword. You are no longer a paladin.
Thus I have decided.

Evening settles on the Calamari house...
Cardinal Calamari emerges from his carriage. He stands up, sniffs the cool air, and pats the dust off his scarlet robes. He adjusts his beretta and goes inside.
It has been a long day. He walks up the stairs and into his room. There is a cool, clammy feel to the air up here. The Cardinal slumps into a chair, and removes his beretta, reaching for a loaf of bread, some fine cheese, and a glass of white wine.
My word. What a horrible day we've had all round.
First thing this morning came the bloody messenger with his scarlet letter, proclaiming to all the world that Torquemada had emptied his veins all over his house, and had been found drowned in a pool of his own blood.
Then, his son angrily becomes treasonous and is arrested.
Last, and by no means least, de la Civ is exiled to Voxia as a missionary!
This day has gone on for far too long...
Calamari pauses, staring into the fire, and chewing on a small piece of cheese...
What has been lost? Torquemada? The brash de la Civ?
I never much agreed with old Torquemada, but I must say, it's a damnable shame that he took his own life. I always used to enjoy our little games, you see. None of that in his son, of course, he's rather dull, and he'll be off to the block sooner than you can say it...
But Torquemada... One feels a strange melancholy when one loses an enemy. One wonders why one should consider a man an enemy when one finds it so hard to bare when he dies...
Lord Jesus...what have I done?
Have I done this, My Lord? Have I killed him? Have I killed GodKing? Have I exiled de la Civ?
Has one decision, so clearly thought out and so just led to this inane butchery?
Lord God...what have I done?
A thought crosses Calamari's mind, as if to say "You should not think so highly of yourself. Your decision meant nothing, and led to nothing."
The feeling persists, though...
The Cardinal leaps forward on his knees...
Speak, Lord...your servant is listening...
Poor GodKing. I fear he is damned. I did my best for him, I wanted that man saved so...
Why could he not be saved? Why did his soul have to be condemned?
Why can I do nothing? Are we all but impotent? Are we all but vain that we think we can do anything in this world?
Was GodKing marked like bitter Cain since birth? Was this your reason? Did I fail to recognize a dead man? Did I hope too much of him?
No. You would not have me think this way...would you?
You are the Lord God...you would see all men saved...
Calamari looks up at the humble crucifix he has hanging on his wall...
I am sorry...
What of de la Civ?
An honest man, I'd have thought. Perhaps, if he hadn't lied so...we would have understood...
Hatred is so strong in men. We are all filled with it from time to time. Torquemada hates Popes and Kings... O Lord! Why are we so foolish? No man need die by violence but for the hatred we have for each other! Suicide is a vile thing, and unnecessary...if we but had the love for one another that we are intended to, we should not see it...
De la Civ...has done what he has done. The murder was crude and foolish and mindless, but understandable...
But he condemned a man's soul!
That cannot be done!!
There is a lingering moment of silence...
Forgive me, a thoughtless one...I am of no worth...if only I served You as well as I should...
If only we all did...if only we all loved You as we were commanded to do. We are blind, men, for we do not see the Creator who molded us for our father...
Forgive me...
Thank you, Father...
De la Civ is exiled...Torquemada is dead... Normal activity will resume...shortly...

Your Holiness Aidun,
I would like to, as a result of Roberto's exile, officially divorce him. At least right now I have no intention to marry anyone else, but I would like to be relieved of any obligations to him beyond the simple obligations between all people. I would also like to inform you that I intend to raise little Roberto together with Daniel de la Civ.
Caterina Ordonez |
Dear Caterina Ordonez,
It is not allowed to divorce form your husband, not in good times not in bad times. When you engaged in marriage with your husband you have sworn to the almighty God that you will always stay together, in good times and in bad times.
I understand that the punishement of your husband is a shock for you, but you have to find a way to live with this. After some years your husband might be released from his punishment if he has shown repentance from his sins.
I wish you strength to covercome these hard times.
With kindest regards,
Pope Aidun I
OOC: Why not start an affair with some other character? Staying at home while your husband is not there for several years is a perfect opportunity to start a relationship with another man.
