I agree, back in my 56K days I had at least 2. But I've had dsl for almost 18 months now, and 1 window is enough since loading is virtually instantaneous. When virtually instantaneous changes to over a minute something is wrong somewhere. Fortunately the problem is intermittent at the moment.

99 cents for a song and it's yours? That's a heckuva deal, considering that singles used to go for roughly $3 per song, and full CDs run $14 to $19. Yeah, maybe the quality of a DL isn't exactly studio, but still ...

if a CD has 10 songs on it, 10 * .99 = 9.99. That's only a 50-75% discount off the CD, and the record industry is still ripping you off.

That's true but on a standard CD these days out of ten songs there's probably only two or three you'd actually listen to. If you download ten songs and burn them to CD, you'd have ten songs to enjoy for less than you'd pay for an album that's half-assed at best.

Honestly, as long as you remain with a small ISP (or at least one that has a record for caring about its consumers), the RIAA is going to have that much a harder time getting your info like in the Verizon case. Also, just refrain from downloading it at Uni or another public place and you're ok

How? Even if you were spoofing, dropping icmp, etc your ISP would still have login IDs and times you were on along with statistical information regarding your connection. If you have the skills to get around havingthis type of information collected by your ISP, PM me and let me know how you do it because it would be some interesting kungfu.

Security schmecurity. It might prevent the RIAA from directly haxoring you immediately, but you still reveal a lot by your file-trading program. (For example, KaZaA broadcasts your IP to everywhere.) Even if you get past that, your ISP will probably be suspiscious if you start downloading a huge file, or do it continuously. Like I said, the best bet is not your own security, but your ISP's willingness to cave in to Big Music.

one , that info proves nothing and can with great ease made to show a cover , .....

"your" isp , ..... not if you are smart , ......
