well... classes end(ed) after the first week of december, and only a few (private) schools here start on late feb. (two weeks earlier than most schools) and instead we have three weeks of winter holidays and one week in spring...

in summer it's about 10 weeks total....

well, speaking of Buenos Aires, in winter it can get down to 0º C, with an average of 5-10, while in the summer it's too darn hot dunno, but 30+ is common...

the thing is that it is usually uber wet (60% humidity is a dry day)

Huh sounds kinda like Minnesota up north. Except I'm sure you guys got in hotter down their and the Humidity sounds intence. Up in Minnesota its right near the Great lakes, and its nickname is land of 10,00 lakes or something like that, causing a lot of humidity, I use to live up there, it gets extremely cold in the winter and can get pretty hot in the summer as well.

Attempting to convert the Calsius to fahrenheit, damn America won't change, were the only ones who haven't converted over to the metric system yet.

Also take in account that when here is winter, in USA is summer and viceversa.

here?, nah... it only snowed once in Buenos Aires on recorded history...

and we don't have tornados either.... in a couple of occasions, toned-down versions of them have happened, but i know of only one in the past 10-15 years....

we don't use insane literally translated (inano), and i think that the phrase "this is insane" is used much either...

when replying to someone's suggestion/other, (like: -will you do this for me? -no! you're insane") it's estás loco (you're mad)

otherwise, we just put in a swear or something (eg, puta! ni me podrría imaginar tanto calor! )

Something like that, what we get is called "Sudestada" (from the southeast, comes from the sea) it´s an storm that last for days and causes a lot of floods.

but it is hardly a tropical storm...

it is cold, in the first place... and the floods occur because the wind blows up-river, creating a cork-like effect which results in much higher tides.
