I'm just curious how someone can get enough outrage in themselves to protest Mr. Rodgers over an issue I don't recall him ever dealing with on the show (sex). |
According to some quotes in articles, they were outraged because 1) he had a TV show and never used it as a bully pulpit, and 2) he had expressed general beliefs of tolerance.
For the record, this was not Rodger's funeral, this was a public memorial service in Pittsburgh. The funeral was totally private.
And Monkie, people DO stand up to him, didn't you read about the counterprotest? 200 vs. his 10. Same thing happened at Matthew Sheppard's funeral.
If you visit Phelps' web site, www.godhatesfags.com, you'll note he has a counter for how many days Matthew Sheppard has been in Hell, and also Diana Whipple (the lesbian killed by her neighbors' dogs).
Charming!

Odd as it may sound, this happens a lot with my family.
The wake will start very seriously, and orccasionally ends up in a mass brawl.
It's one way of grieving.
Anyway, you think dead people honestly care about the funeral? No. So what until those protesters have died, and screw up their funerals.
A precedent has been set. Let's see how much pain we can cause before these morons realise they stepped over the line.
(Can't wait for Mrs. T's funeral - shame we can't burn her at the stake beforehand).
