	Tired of ads?

What do you think of this? I think it's too big to be an avatar, but I'll just throw it in my webspace and give you a link in a sec. because this would be a sweet avatar. Just put the link in the avatar field. That's how I get mine to show.

well it saves as a BMP, but just get an image converter tool like Mihov Resizer and comvert it from BMP and comes out as GIF just fine

Not that I should be telling you this for this purpose but.... if you reduce the number of colors in a .gif palette, you can reduce the file size. Reduce the colors enough, and you should be able to get the frames for your animated .gif to fit.

Since you've got photoshop, you can tweak around the lossy and other settings in the prepare for web tool and compress file size some more. Since it's small and you want to animate it, the loss of image "quality" won't be noticeable.

I know all about reducing file size. Unfortunately, this eye looks really funny with less than 64 colors, and with 64 and the 7 frame animation I made, the file is still 30 K.

But I'll tell you what. I'm kinda bored right now, so I'll give it one more try and tell you if it works...

Ok, this one only has three frames, and I managed to get it to look mostly the same with 32 colors instead of 64, but it's only 9.8 kb

If you're already down to 64, then you're pretty much SOL, unless you edit pixel by pixel to be able to reduce the palette more cleanly, and it ain't worth it. You probably can't save more than about 20% of the file size no matter what you do, unless you can come up with a similar effect in less frames.

Funny timing for a crosspost. You can pixel-tweak a bit if you were really inclined, but 32 colors isn't really bad, considering what it is.

I think the biggest problem was the # of frames I used initially. But, hey, I only spent about a minute on it so it makes sense that it didn't really work the first time. Anyway, I hope Zylka likes his new avatar.
