Well the Drones were only allowed besides the other four human teams under the assumption that only Buster and few other CGN members would join the team. They wouldn't be a real demo game team, and so wouldn't draw away members to the Drones who would otherwise have joined other teams (such as you I think) if the Drones hadn't existed. This to prevent the other four teams from being too small, and have too little active participants.
Now it appears though that the Drones have grown to a normal-sized team, and our initial assumption is false, leaving the other teams with fewer members. I wouldn't mind that so much, as having five human factions is diplomatically much more interesting than four, but I am afraid, since some of the Drones members joined the faction because it was a CGN team, that your now normal-sized faction will not roleplay as the Drones, but consider this a normal PBEM. For example few Drones are roleplaying as Drones on the general forum, nor has there even been one newspaper issue from your faction. (Granted, there has been only one newspaper issue of the CyCons, but due to exams several of the CyCon are unable to write anything. Nevertheless we now have enough articles for a second issue, so it should appear soon.)

static, we really arent "roleplaying" this game. what we are doing though is democraticly voicing our opinions on what should be done and then buster is making the moves based on what we say.

im sorry i dont want to pretend to be some futuristic person in a strategy game. im here for strategy and diplomacy (if any can be had with the likes of the hive). but im going to continue to be exactly as i have been in the past.

I can confirm that 2 Drone Newspaper issues have been published to date in their private forum

I'd go further and say that as far as I can see they are RP'ing as the Drones insofar as. like the other factions, the same questions are being asked and answered, such as (paraphrasing):

What should our SE, research and build choices be to maximize our Drone advantages and minimize our disadvantages

What's going to be our strategy towards the other (human and non human) factions - who are "natural" allies and likely antagonists

And it isn't a Buster dictatorship - moves are made and build orders etc agreed upon only after full discussion by all faction members (in fact, it's set up in their forum with a separate thread for each year, with the map and base display graphics from the end of the previous turn heading each thread. Extremely well organized - but one would expect no less from the Drones, after all ....... )

These seem to be common threads in all the factions' internal discussions (maybe not in these selfsame words), but indicative of real Role-Playing

I don't think we can expect to see many public-forum signs of roleplaying yet at this point in the game, unless newspapers are published... which last I checked was not a requirement of this game. I look forward to when we get some interfactional issues
