Corona is fine (in terms of safety). I've had no choice but to drink it on many occasions, and I've never had a problem.

LTEC is right that American beers can be much worse. I got a horrible stomach bug after drinking a locally-brewed lager. Was sick for 3 days.

I would say Alexander Keith's is a pretty big-name beer. I can hardly go a day without seeing that damn annoying Scottish-guy commercial.

I don't think Corona is made with mexican water, but I'm pretty certain the upcoming Madison chip is. Stay away from it at all costs!!!

Madison is already out.

And I believe they're made in the New Mexico fab.

Whiny ***** ale seems to be more your brew, dear.

Corona is about the worst beer mexico has aside perhaps from Tecate light.
Best beer i know is not readily available everywhere, is called "Casta" on about four or five varieties. If you run into Indio or Nochebuena (only made by christmastime) they're pretty damn good.

As for you, I think you're barely in drinking age so you must not be very experienced.

Two years now, in college.
That gives you plenty of opportunity to try a lot.

Nah, the people I hang around with have money.

Plus, and I'm speaking solely about myself here, I'm an extremely cheap drunk. So I go for the good ****, rather than volume.

What are the best Mexican beers available? I work in a beer store, and the only kinds we stock are Corona Extra, Corona Light, Tecate, and Dos Equis Amber and Lager. Is there better stuff available that I should look out for?

Negra Modelo is definitely nice. Noche Buena rocks, but it's sold only around Christmas, and it's not exported.

Cerveza Tijuana's Dorada and Morena beers are also nice, but I don't think they produce enough to bother exporting.

http://www.tjbeer.com/eng/brewery.html

Nice setup, but definitely not mass production grain-elevator style like Miller or Bud or other American **** beers.

The Brewery looks nice. I went to the Coors one in Golden, Co. and it was mind numbing how much of a factory it is. Apparently Coors is brewed by the Olympic Swimming Pool and stored in a tower of tanks until it was ready to ship. One more reason to avoid proletariat beer...

Got spare money?

Yeah - in Irwindale (industrial burb of LA), there's a huge Miller brewery that looks putrid.

Here's some other good regional Mexican beers you won't find in the US, though:

Monterrey/Nuevo Leon area - Casta, Sierra Madre
Mexico City - San Angel and Santa Fe

SE Mexico - Victoria (same people who make Modelo)

Oh, and the reason I like men over women is men's extreme moodswings strike only once every two months, while for women it happens monthly.
