They changed how All satrs get picked: team players vote for them, not newspaper people or fans: it seems the Yankee players were tardy in filling their ballots, and thus so few Yankees made it in.

I mean, no Mariano Rivera as a closer for the AL?

The fans haven't picked them for as long as I can remember....

Rivera only has 15 saves besides.

He was injured for a while. He is still one of the AL's (if not baseball') finnest closers.

Loaiza? He's been a vetern in the league, who just finally got a decent pitching coach. What are they going to 'figure out' against him. Sure this won't last, but I'd be suprised if he doesn't win 18 games with an ERA under 4.

yeah I can never remember how to spell his damn name

he just changed his pitching repetoire... he does it almost every year (hence the dropoff in win % and ERA in his career after the first two months)... this year he's been effective... but it will catch up with him and he'll level off.

Naw, don't think so. He's been pitching very well... striking guys out (which shows he'll keep being good this year). I think he won't keep this up forever, but he won't fall apart THIS year.

He'll be this year's Derek Lowe... then go back to .500 next year.

Perhaps... but so would any OTHER BLACK MANAGER. If Jerry Manuel said that, he'd be gone. Dusty is considered to be "black Jesus" in Chicago. Rightly or wrongly so... it's the truth. Dusty didn't get fired because he was Dusty... not because of the color of his skin.

The Royals are 3 1/2 games up on the Twins and I'm loving it! They might actually make the playoffs this year!





Of course, I'll be in Japan during the playoffs, so I'll probably only be able to watch Mariners and Yankees games.

That, combined with the crime that is Hideki Matsui starting for the AL, has given me some issues with Japanese baseball fans. Hopefully I want have to kick anyone's ass while I'm over there.

His point was that Dusty didn't get fired SOLELY because he's black... and that's 100% wrong... any other BLACK MANAGER would have been fired. As I said before, Dusty didn't get fired BECAUSE he's Dusty... black Jesus extraordinaire.

The really nice thing about the Braves winning the WS is that was the very same day I bought my first Pentium class computer with the internet just ready to go. I had entered the net age.

And the Braves won the WS on a Glavine masterpiece and a Justice homer. Thank you, Tommy. You may suck now, but you didn't then, when it counted.
